Haha!…Nado just beat out the throw for an IF hit.
March 11, 2023 at 8:56 pm #213901Boy, that Betts has arm out there in RF. There’s not a weakness in his entire game.
March 11, 2023 at 9:05 pm #213902Nado with the RBI double to tie it at 1-1.
March 11, 2023 at 9:07 pm #213903Did Smoltz just throw out the number 70 for Trea Turner and stolen bases this year?
March 12, 2023 at 10:57 am #213914I heard that on Trey Turner swiping 70 this year. Also read an article that stated Edman in the 9 spot could be good for 40 bags. Sounds like with some of the changes made, some folks are thinking the stolen base will be a more prominent weapon again.
Waino not all that sharp in his WBC start. Early on here, he looks done. But we will see how things progress.
March 12, 2023 at 9:49 pm #213955Saw this in an article about Noot in the WBC:
” He has hit leadoff in front of Kondoh and Ohtani and seems to be in the middle of Japan’s every rally, and he’s been stellar in center field as well. ”
In the middle of every rally. Check. Stellar in center field. Hmmm.
March 12, 2023 at 10:08 pm #213956I’d have to guess that the Japanese team is a favorite to make a good run at whatever they award for the grand prize. Maybe the Nootz will face some of his Redbird teammates if they come up against the USA team and rob Goldy or Nado of an extra base hit with a nice play in CF. It wouldn’t bother me too much if he did. You can’t help but to like the Nootz…Haha!
March 12, 2023 at 10:21 pm #213958Turner and Edman are alike in the context that they almost are never CS on a SB attempt, but I’m not sure how those that are termed in the know can guess Turner with 70 SB’s and Edman with 40 in ’23 seeing as how Eddie has 62 SB’s to Turner’s 59 in the last 2 full seasons.
March 12, 2023 at 10:49 pm #213959One thing is for sure, 1td. Turner’s ratio of stolen bases to million dollars of salary will go down in 2023 and it will be much lower than Edman’s ratio. Win for BDW and Mo.
March 12, 2023 at 11:14 pm #213960Yeah, I never thought of it that way, Euro. I guess inflation has really had an effect on the cost of putting a guy into scoring position. Meanwhile, I miss having scrambled eggs for breakfast more than once a week…Haha!
March 13, 2023 at 1:22 am #213961I searched for an article on Noot based on bling’s comment above. He’s now a fan favorite in Japan. He’s got the team doing the pepper grinder gesture after getting hits. Japanese fans are bringing pepper shakers to the game. Overnight folk hero. Cards will be lucky if he comes back, lol.

Cards will be lucky if he comes back, lol.
Well, he can come back to 5 years of indentured servitude, or cut a market rate deal and stay there, make way more money for the next 5 years plus a windfall in product endorsements. He gives up the speculative big payday once he reaches free agency if all goes well.
March 13, 2023 at 7:53 am #213965Nootbaar is contractually bound to his MLB team until free agency. He could not move to another professional league before then unless his MLB team relinquishes his rights.
March 13, 2023 at 8:45 am #213968You and your pesky facts.
March 13, 2023 at 11:21 am #213979Guys, relax. It was just a joke, obviously a bad one. I thought that was pretty much common knowledge by posters here and didn’t need an explanation. Thought the lol was a good enough clue!
March 13, 2023 at 1:51 pm #213983A joke? I dunno Euro…Once the Nootz gets a taste of the fine hospitality and accomodations offered up by his ever worshipping stable of Geisha girls over there in the land of the rising sun, we may never see him clear customs in the USA again. If I were a young and single man with an abundance of stamina, I’d sure trade places with him…Haha!
March 13, 2023 at 6:26 pm #2139951td, I bet you’ve seen Tom Selleck in Mr. Baseball at least a couple times. Noot-mania is clearly an international phenomenon. I wonder if Noot has a strong resemblance to some highly adored Japanese crooner, à la Wayne Newton, and the Geishas are just giddy about it?
March 13, 2023 at 9:00 pm #214000Haha!…No question that “The Nootz and his Pepper Grinding Geisha Girls” gets top billing on every marquis in Vegas. It’s a must see attraction for every Japanese tourist that visits the USA!
March 15, 2023 at 1:44 am #214033USA controls it destiny. Beat Colombia Wednesday night and advance out of pool play.
I think they could advance with a loss if Canada also loses (to Mexico). In this scenario, they’d be tied with Canada and Colombia for the 2nd spot in the pool. I took a look at the tiebreaker rules and it looks like they’d be in good shape here if they don’t lose by more than 2 runs to Colombia or don’t lose in a closer game that gets into double digit scoring. Having scored 12 against Canada helps them for the tiebreaker.
March 15, 2023 at 3:18 pm #214049Reporters just asked Yadier Molina, who had announced two other starters for this game, why he just decided to start Fernando Cruz instead.
“Porque me dio la gana,” he said. I’m told this translates roughly to “Because I felt like it.” Increíble.

March 15, 2023 at 3:43 pm #214050Haha! Molina may be fluent in both the Spanish and English language, but obviously doesn’t know a solitary word of double-speak…He’s the boss and this is the way he runs a railroad. Any more questions?
March 15, 2023 at 3:44 pm #214051In regards to the WBC, I happened to notice that the USA has a 2-1 record at this juncture. Who’d they lose to?
March 15, 2023 at 3:47 pm #214052Maybe the other two pitchers had a basketball game to go see, lol.
March 15, 2023 at 3:54 pm #214053
cardsfan64ParticipantUSA lost to Mexico, 11-5 on Sunday.
March 15, 2023 at 3:57 pm #214054The most amusing direct quote I ever heard from Yadier Molina occured in a postgame presser after the Cardinals/Reds dust up in August of 2010. Molina, when asked why he took offense to the friendly shin tap administered by Brandon Phillips as he stepped into the box in the home half of the 1st inning replied, “He call my team bad names and now he want to be my friend?…He’s not my friend”…Haha!
