Naile now at 58 pitches in 1.1 IP’ed in which he’s allowed 7 ER’s on 7 hits and 2 BB’s. He’ll recall this appearance as the Miami Moon that set on his career. At least he put his name in the books.
I wonder what Waino is thinking. I don’t see the point of him coming back after the All-Star Break, at least as a starter. He could fake an injury, or ask to be moved to the pen, among other options.
Yeah, he’s all done. The Redbird manager left him out there to twist for 58 pitches in 1.1…Players take note of things like that.

I’ve always been one of Mozeliak’s biggest supporters — and let it be said yet again, during his 16-season tenure the Cards have baseball’s 3rd-best record behind only the Dodgers and Damn Yankees. But he picked Marmol to manage this team despite Ollie being perhaps the least-qualified skipper in major league history.
Really, let’s think about this for a second. Never played or managed above A-ball. How many MLB managers in history had that paucity of experience? Then add to that, he had precious little experience at even coaching baseball. And at age 35 he had almost zero experience at managing different types of people in a variety of circumstances, thinking on the fly, etcetera, etcetera.
Mo chose Marmol when a different internal option with two recent Triple-A managerial championships plus playing experience at the highest level was available (Clapp, of course). On nothing more substantive than a hunch, Mozeliak tethered himself to Marmol and I grudgingly have to say they should go down together. The choice of Marmol has been a borderline disaster. Not unlike the Fowler, Ozuna, and Contreras transactions.
Naile is not a major league pitcher, anybody should be able to see that from his AAA outings….just shows how short they left this team in the bullpen this year
We have a ton of pitchers ZTR. Problem is we only have a couple Good ones. Our ace is average for most teams.
Eveything you pointed out is true, Rob Reed, but in addition to all those facts, you’ll have to pardon me for saying I’m convinced he’s just plain dumb.
Johnny and Marmol sure are cocky for a couple of guys who put together and manage the worst Cardinal team in 100+ years…..
at a certain point a professional athlete knows he is no longer capable of performing at a high level and retiring is far preferable to continuously embarrassing himself in front of thousands of people. Bob Gibson had too much integrity to continue once he realized he no longer was able to live up to his own high standards.
A 15-2 final but the Redbirds can take solace that they spoiled the shutout and scored 2 runs…Off a catcher.
Does anyone think any of the Cardinal players were a little uncomfortable seeing how the Cardinal manager left Naile out there to twist in the wind?
9-1 to the cubs and 14-0 to Houston last week. And now this 15-2 drubbing vs Miami. What next…..17-1 vs the White Sox?…..it just hit me……were all 3 of the above trouncings Waino games? Will have to check that, but in the meantime, Waino should not under any circumstances, start in Chicago this coming Sunday.
There it is. That’s all we will see from him. It’s over and this move is a precursor to the IL and so he can get paid the remaining salary. Problem is who do they have to fill the spot? Matz, lmao.
I think it’s just an excuse to let him take a break and regroup. No one can prove he either has or does not have shoulder pain.
It’s a good move though to let him breath and think.

It is sad that Wainwright did not go out in an extended and celebrated farewell with Yadi and Albert last year. He has been a great Cardinal. The trio retiring together would have been very special.
What bothers me the worst is we have nothing to fix things! No real changes! Keep running out the same pitchers same players same management team expecting it to get better! Ridiculous! Bring up some young bats and arms! Fire some people! Do something! I bet they roll out this same team all year! Just pitiful!
Waino to the IL and Knizner to the ER.
My guess is that Hudson and Herrera will be joining the club.
I wouldn’t count Waino out just yet. He’s not a quitter and he usually gets his way. He will get his 200……may God be my judge he’ll get his 200. I would expect him to take a little break on IL( formerly called DL) and then get back to it. Hopefully out of the pen, where he’ll be put in positions to gain a couple victories.
