Ha ha……great stuff, TexasCard! He beat Roger Maris’ record by one.
July 4, 2023 at 1:54 pm #226563What’s not to like about Joseph Abel “JoJo” Romero? A very clean inning by the Redbird reliever.
And another hit by Contreras and he’s sizzzzzling red hot at the dish.July 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm #226564Did not realize the Marlins wore red hats now and then. Maybe it is just a 4th of July thing.
To change our fortunes, the Cardinals should start wearing the navy blue hats full time – home and road regardless of opponent. Try something, anything, to get things turned around. Would be cool to see those in a home game – it has been 60 years since they wore the navy blues at home. And that club won 93 games.
July 4, 2023 at 2:05 pm #226565We’ve got three more turns at the plate, so there is hope. Its just too bad we are in such a hole yet again.
July 4, 2023 at 2:10 pm #226566Cabrera is doing his thing. Sigh!
July 4, 2023 at 2:20 pm #226567Baker takes a walk. Nooty swings under a slider. Edman up.
July 4, 2023 at 2:21 pm #226568So, this is why you maybe don’t put your second catcher at DH.
There is pretty much nothing this club has done well this season at any level.
Starting Pitching? A disaster
Bullpen? A disaster
Defense? Disaster
Offense? Average
(They seem very poor at things like moving baserunners along and scoring the runner from third with less than two out.)
Base running? Disaster
Roster composition? Pretty dumb
Managing ? Sub-par
Front office? Sub-par
Owner? Seems to be cheapFan base? More than the owner and front office deserve.
Does that about cover it?
July 4, 2023 at 2:22 pm #226569So, the Cardinals will have to win 3 of the next 4 to have 38 wins at the break. I said a few weeks ago they’d have around 38 at best. I think I over estimated their abilities. They have a .417 win percentage, but that will drop with this loss today. Given the money spent on this team, it’s the worst team in the past 60 plus years. Yes, it’s a worse disaster than the 1970s and early 1990s teams. Total fail.
July 4, 2023 at 2:22 pm #226570Boy somebody must have greased our bats today. Haven’t seen solid contact by us yet today?
July 4, 2023 at 2:24 pm #226571ZTR you were too kind in calling the manager sub-par. He’s been a disaster as well. The front office had been bad for years and got away with it until now. They’ve been totally exposed as frauds and don’t get me started on the owner.
July 4, 2023 at 2:26 pm #226572The worst thing I have seen out of Marmol is the breakdown of baseball fundamentals. Cardinal teams usually play good, smart, fundamental baseball – this team has had too many lapses.
July 4, 2023 at 2:27 pm #226573Everyone seemingly catches a break on the E-1 in the 4th inning. Wainwright’s only charged with 4 ER’s today despite being responsible for loading the bases on a HBP and 2 BB’s in that inning and Romero’s line is 0 ER’s allowed even though he surrendered the 2 RBI base hit to Cooper which wouldn’t have become a reality if he hadn’t been the pitcher who couldn’t field an extra easy comebacker to commit the proverbial “Das Boot!” No one’s accountable anymore…Haha!
July 4, 2023 at 2:29 pm #226574I do not blame Ollie for the DH fiasco. I figure using Cabrera as the DH comes from the FO. It works in virtual baseball.
July 4, 2023 at 2:30 pm #226575Yeah Bikemike, those red caps threw me off too. I kept thinking I was watching the Rangers lose the WS to the Cardinals…
July 4, 2023 at 2:32 pm #22657610-0
July 4, 2023 at 2:32 pm #226577True 1TD, yesterday we got a hit on that shot that hit the third baseman right in the glove. An error if ever there was one.
July 4, 2023 at 2:33 pm #226578You know the season has truly gone to crap when your major league announcers are taking about a prospect making his first AA start….
10-0 now.
Too bad there isn’t a 10 run rule in the pros
They could call this game right now.
July 4, 2023 at 2:36 pm #226579Well when Knizner catches, if Contreras is going to DH then I guess to they need to carry a third catcher..
Who knows what these guys are thinking.
The roster construction is an absolute joke.
July 4, 2023 at 2:38 pm #226580Well getting blown out again. Maybe Baker will pitch the 9th today. This stuff has gotta be really embarassing for the Cardinals staff. Starting to wonder if wholesale changes are needed. This one was over in the 4th inning.
July 4, 2023 at 2:38 pm #226582Well, unless the Cardinals can score 10 runs in 2 innings, it’ll be nice to know that the Cardinal’s record in 1 run games won’t get any worse than 8-17.
July 4, 2023 at 2:38 pm #226583I’m leaving for a BBQ. If they come back from 10 down I will miss it.
July 4, 2023 at 2:41 pm #226584Marmol will use a position player to pitch the 8th.
I’m not sure how they will get through tomorrows game if the starter only goes 2-3 innings.
Maybe just throw Matz out there and tell him. You are going to get 27 outs, lol.
July 4, 2023 at 2:42 pm #226585Yeah Bling, I may not have been able to make the throw and record the out, but I’m entirely certain I could have cleanly gloved that baby bouncing baseball right back to me…Haha!
July 4, 2023 at 2:49 pm #226586Why not? I think it’s a good idea. Make him earn that $44M. Every time I see that figure, I’m astounded. Then, I get real dizzy when I see 4 years. Then, someone on here pointed out that all that money and all that time was for a mop up guy and I lost consciousness…Haha!
July 4, 2023 at 2:51 pm #226587Has anybody told Naile he’s sposed to throw the ball over that flat white thing in front of the catcher?
