Great move to yank Pallante after he settled down, if for no other reason, because Helsley pitching in two different innings is always a winning strategy.
Maybe it’s not that the Cards’ and Indians’ hitters are big chokers with a runner on 3B and no outs. Instead, maybe it’s both teams have clutch pitching with a runner on 3B and no outs.
1td, my concern with yanking Pallante in the 8th wasn’t that Helsley wouldn’t get the final out. It’s him not doing well in the 9th if they stick with him. Seems like he has problems sometimes when he has to go back out to start the next inning.
Not quite there yet and I don’t guess it makes any difference, but for some odd reason it seems like that runner at 2nd base in extras affords the home team an unfair advantage. I guess I’m still just not used to it.
