Yep, Wisdom’s indecision helped. I don’t think he would’ve turned two anyway, but maybe he would’ve. After he hesitated, he had no chance.
May 8, 2023 at 9:12 pm #219778It sure was, gscottar…We’ll take it!
May 8, 2023 at 9:16 pm #219779He probably figured he had time with a catcher running.
May 8, 2023 at 9:17 pm #219780That was gonna hurt. Hicks ahead 1-2 and almost lost Suzuki, but then gets the weak contact for the out. Maybe the ship’s rudder is regaining its navigation bearings.
May 8, 2023 at 9:17 pm #219781I didn’t think I would ever say this but why are we taking Hicks out? He was rolling and the pitch count wasn’t bad.
May 8, 2023 at 9:22 pm #219782I think they used him yesterday, gscottar, and he was at 26 pitches tonight. At any rate, it worked out. Edit…Nope, I was wrong. Hicks saw no work on Sunday.
May 8, 2023 at 9:25 pm #219783Carlson needs to bring a driver next time up-the strike zone just sank!
May 8, 2023 at 9:29 pm #219784I am not a fan of the four out saves but hopefully Helsley can get it done.
May 8, 2023 at 9:30 pm #219785I’m just enjoying having a chance to win consecutive games, but Bling alluded to the fact that the BP is going to contain a lot of crispy critters if a couple of the members of the rotation don’t begin to offer up more than 4 or 5 innings of work. It’s simply not sustainable for too much longer.
May 8, 2023 at 9:32 pm #219786Hosmer was overmatched against Helsley. I lost track he was a cubbie now.
May 8, 2023 at 9:33 pm #219787Bucknor making his presence felt now.
May 8, 2023 at 9:37 pm #219788Helsley looks like his finger’s finally healed.

ParticipantWell that’s a winner
May 8, 2023 at 9:37 pm #219790Nice win tonight. We finally win a series opener! And we have won two games in a row! And of course it is always fun to beat the dastardly Cubs.
May 8, 2023 at 9:38 pm #219791You bet!
May 8, 2023 at 9:38 pm #219792Well, that’s another one. “Just keep matriculating, boys”…

stlcard25ParticipantIs that the first opening win this year??
May 8, 2023 at 9:39 pm #219794So that’s what a series opening win is?
May 8, 2023 at 9:41 pm #219795Good team win! Yowza! 3 runs on 6 hits. Good pitching Go Cardinals!
May 8, 2023 at 9:42 pm #219796Picked up a game on the Cubbies, but no help from the Dodgers or Rockies. And, oh yeah, picked up a half game of ground on the idle Reds. Not too bad.
May 8, 2023 at 9:42 pm #219797That was a baseball game well played. Everybody did good, including OliMo.
May 8, 2023 at 9:42 pm #219798Yes it is Euro! Season just started Spring Training over now!
May 8, 2023 at 9:47 pm #219799Season just started Spring Training over now!
Exactly, so we have a 10 game handicap. The lesser teams have to have hope.
May 8, 2023 at 9:48 pm #219800Just need to win about 15 more in a row and we’ll be breathing down Milwaukee’s neck.
May 8, 2023 at 9:55 pm #219801Nice to beat the Cubbies. Nice to get 2 in a row. And nice to finally win an opener. Maybe we needed all these distractions to take our minds off losing? Whatever it is, tonight’s product looked a lot crisper. Good even other than Mikolas struggling to put guys away for the first 2 innings. But at least he didn’t give up and hung in there.
