The first two are recent additions. The avenue for the last one should have been barricaded two years ago.
May 7, 2023 at 12:36 pm #219510Surely Matz can give us an occasional quality start?
Detroit has a losing record for cryin’ out loud.
A J Hinch is a pretty good manager though.
The Cardinals need to go on about a 30-15 run to get their noses back above the surface.
Unfortunately, I don’t see the players, the coaching, the managing, or the ownership to do that.
May 7, 2023 at 12:40 pm #219512A quality start may be to survive the 1st inning. He’s the Jerry Quarry of LHP’ers.
May 7, 2023 at 1:04 pm #219513According to the Doppler Radar this game shouldn’t have any problems being played.
Time to go boys, we’re just about ready to rumble. Here we go Redbirds, here we go!
This losing streak, time to nip it – nip it in the bud!
May 7, 2023 at 1:07 pm #219514I always liked a mantra coined way back in about ’05 or so. It not only sounded good, but was also the way those teams played. It was called, “play a hard 9,” and was attributed to TLR. Sadly, if the Redbirds can’t manage a win today, it could take on a whole new meaning.
May 7, 2023 at 1:08 pm #219515Actually, letting the pitcher bat and DHing for Knizner isn’t as silly as it sounds, especially for a pitcher with a BA over .100. You are giving up very little, and with one or two pitching changes per game we would pinch hit with a decent bat.
They would be complete idiots not to try this with our best hitting pitchers.May 7, 2023 at 1:12 pm #219517I was thinking the same thing yesterday with a former Silver Slugger on the mound.
May 7, 2023 at 1:30 pm #219518One potato…
May 7, 2023 at 1:35 pm #219519There’s a thunderstorm watch here. Doesn’t look bad as of now though.
Noot and his .442 OBP picked a bad time to not get on base, 1-0 is something on a Goldy homer.
In the second Donovan looked good playing a line drive off the wall. Solid, accurate throw into second. Not the strongest arm ever, but good.
May 7, 2023 at 1:37 pm #219521The first two are recent additions. The avenue for the last one should have been barricaded two years ago.
The first two can’t play in the field and we now have a new full time DH so yes they are blocked.
May 7, 2023 at 1:37 pm #219522Then their guy hit ahead of the runner rather than behind so he did not advance on the ground out. I love seeing bad fundamentals when it is the other guys. Not having that guy on third with one out was big.
And Matz is through 2 with no damage.
May 7, 2023 at 1:40 pm #219523Yeah, they’re recent additions to Barricade Ave. The other one should have taken up residence 2 years ago.

ParticipantI think the cards may pull this one out today. Tigers just dropped pop up, maybe we can capitalize

ParticipantOh well, up 2-0. Hopefully matz can keep up the decent work. They have hit him a little bit but he’s worked around it
May 7, 2023 at 1:55 pm #219529Yeah, 3B with one out. It’s why I’d sac-bunt every time in extras. Yesterday in extras we were down by a run with Nado at 2B to start the extra inning. I couldn’t understand what ever happened to the axiom that you play to tie at home. Turns out he attempts to advance on a baseball that was hit way too hard to the right side and is thrown out anyway. It’s silly. Simply lay down the bunt and you have good chance to move him over to 3B. I’d do it in extras with Gehrig standing in.
May 7, 2023 at 2:02 pm #219530Goldy was evidently tired of looking up at Edman in the HR column of the stat sheet.
May 7, 2023 at 2:03 pm #219531Two potato…
May 7, 2023 at 2:05 pm #219532Maybe today’s the day the losing streak ends.
3-0 after 3.
I’m not calling it yet as I don’t trust any part of this team.
If they can push it out to a 7-8 run lead then we can relax.
May 7, 2023 at 2:06 pm #219533They’ll have a hard time pointing any fingers at Goldy for the state of affairs. He’s been solid across the board all season long. There’s several others that need to lay their purse down and help him a little.
May 7, 2023 at 2:06 pm #219534Goldy with 2 HR now. Noot not on ahead of him either time. That’s bad luck I guess.
May 7, 2023 at 2:07 pm #219535I listened to Mo’s interview this morning about the team – mainly about Contreras.
It was disturbing to listen to.
This dude is losing it.
May 7, 2023 at 2:09 pm #219536Uh-oh, we are up 3-0 early just like yesterday. Looks like a Tiger sweep is in the near future.
May 7, 2023 at 2:12 pm #219538Goldy with 2 HR now. Noot not on ahead of him either time. That’s bad luck I guess.
Heard announcer say all 6 of Goldy’s HRs have been solos.
May 7, 2023 at 2:14 pm #219539I wonder how many have come from the 2 slot?
May 7, 2023 at 2:17 pm #219541It was disturbing to listen to.
ZTR, was it disturbing because as per usual he spoke for 5 minutes and said nothing, or did he say something explicitly disturbing this time?
