Caught a break.
April 3, 2023 at 7:15 pm #215410Oy! The gloss is coming off Woodford 🙁
April 3, 2023 at 7:16 pm #215411Woodford is getting rocked
April 3, 2023 at 7:16 pm #215412Well, not so much…
April 3, 2023 at 7:22 pm #215413It’s early enough to push 6 runs across, but it’ll be tough to blank the Braves for 7 more innings. No bargains in their line-up.
April 3, 2023 at 7:23 pm #215414I was excited to see Woodford that I’m always hearing about on this site – how great he is and how Ollie is so crazy not to let him pitch. But now after watching 3 deep flies plus a ground rule double and a few singles mixed in – in the first 2 innings I’m thinking our Cardinal Nation scouts need to re-evaluate why they think he’s so good. Small sample size I know, but it’s really ugly watching the Braves tee off on him.
April 3, 2023 at 7:24 pm #2154155 run lead and lead-off BB. That oughta’ be bad luck for ATL.
April 3, 2023 at 7:26 pm #215416Yeah, Woodruff gets a lot of print on here, Jnevel.
April 3, 2023 at 7:29 pm #215417Just tuned in. Evidently Matz is our only hope this year.
April 3, 2023 at 7:29 pm #215418I know. But he’s really never been very good. I do like the way they’ve been mixing up his pitches better than in the past – trying to maximize his better pitches. And I was really hoping he may have made enough changes to be serviceable.
April 3, 2023 at 7:33 pm #215419Mikolas will be fine. Montgomery will be at least average. And I think Matz will be good if he stays healthy. But I’m worried about Flaherty and Wainwright and I just have very little confidence in Woodford. But on the plus side, Liberatore looks really good. I’m crossing my fingers that Graceffo and Connor Thomas will be ready in a few months as well.
April 3, 2023 at 7:46 pm #215420That’s too bad. When he hit it I thought that baseball may carry over the RF wall.
April 3, 2023 at 7:48 pm #215421So if Flaherty is hurt and Woodford isn’t the answer, who do they go with besides Liberatore in the near term? Hudson? Stretch out Pallante?
April 3, 2023 at 7:50 pm #215422You could pull a locomotive out of a river with that chain Acuna’s wearing.
April 3, 2023 at 7:54 pm #215423That HR Riley hit was a 5 bagger. He scorched that so and so.
April 3, 2023 at 7:57 pm #215424I don’t know, Jnevel. I’d be hesitant to use Pallante simply because with his ability to induce a GB he’s really valuable to the BP. Take your pick with Hudson or Libratore.
April 3, 2023 at 7:58 pm #215426Might have something on the burner. C’mon Cardinals!
April 3, 2023 at 8:00 pm #215427There you go Jordan!
April 3, 2023 at 8:04 pm #215428Got that run in from 3B and moved Jordan over into scoring position. Not too bad. Need a base hit. C’mon Burly!
April 3, 2023 at 8:07 pm #215431Would’ve liked a little more, but a different looking game at 6-3. That’s no hill for a climber. Need a clean inning or two.
April 3, 2023 at 8:08 pm #215432I’d love to see Pallante pitch 3 innings tonight and begin to stretch himself out. After Liberatore, I think he’s the next best choice. Better than Hudson.
April 3, 2023 at 8:08 pm #215433Nice play by Donnie to keep that lead-off guy from reaching.
April 3, 2023 at 8:10 pm #215434Tonight might be an ideal game to use him in that role. That’s why I’d be reluctant to place him in the 5-man, Jnevel.
April 3, 2023 at 8:11 pm #2154352/3 of an inning for Thompson. 3 innings for Pallante. Then Gallegos makes his first appearance and saves an 8-6 game after we go ahead in the 8th. That’s how I’m drawing it up.
April 3, 2023 at 8:13 pm #215436Ok. Thompson does his job. Now let’s get another run back.
