Pugs…Nothing at all miraculous about it. With the exception of a sac-fly, all of their runs came on scratch hits. The only miracle I saw was produced by the Cardinals. That miracle was the IF being pulled in with the bases jammed with 1 out and a 2-1 Redbird lead…
October 8, 2022 at 11:47 am #203798Well I got 2 cents worth to throw in there. After watching us walk the bases loaded in the 9th last week against Pittsburg I had to laugh when we walked in the winning run. I have a cynical sense of humor anyway. Much like Euro and ZTR. Must be some kind of new thing but I haven’t figured it out yet. Much like givi g Reyes the 9th inning last year. After the 2nd walk I was done but hey- I’m no expert. So after suffering through one of my son’s 0-10 football seasons I learned you have to take your victory where you can find them. Be happy with the small things. Being in a playoff game. Scoring a run. Making a play etc. Heck go with the team out to eat when you’re done. Gotta not miss the fun in sports. Tighten up your chin straps and go get em today.
Din-din will be Pizza! Everybody loves Pizza!
Go Cardinals!
P$: Ollie its never in the bag. Keep a LH and RH up in the pen the WHOLE game.October 8, 2022 at 11:56 am #203799Wooster…Pizza’s always a winner! I like our chances tonight…
October 8, 2022 at 12:19 pm #203800I feel good about this game too. <1td> Albert will do the tater thing again. </1td> Goldy will see that, then decide he’s been in a carb deficit far too long and break free from whatever curse has been holding him back the last few weeks. But the real key is does forsch make it to the game safely? forsch, if at all possible, please let us know when you are in your seat. Then I’ll know the Cards are primed for victory.
Plus, I like Wooster’s tip about keeping a LHP and RHP ready, especially if the pitcher on the mound nails Fredbird a couple times. And if Pugs is not MIA, that would be the icing on the cake.
October 8, 2022 at 12:48 pm #203801Ohhh Pugsaronias will be milling about our Game Thread tonight, Euro Dandy. Wouldn’t miss it for the world. Just think…… tonight could be our final Game Thread TD trivia and din-dins until opening day 2023. I too love Wooster’s homemade pizza din-din that he has stepping up to the plate this evening. And in honor of Wooster, let’s all have pizza for din-din on this historic evening. Mine will not be homemade though……but it won’t be from any of the major pizza chains either. Pizza Hut used to be great 20 years ago until they vastly cheapened their cheese. Domino’s is kind of an odd duck. During my college dorm days at Bowling Green State University and Arizona State, EVERYONE ordered their pizza from Domino’s. It was wonderful. Your pizza box was literally dripping with grease. Then around 1995 or so they went on the cheap and their pizza tasted like cardboard. Then they kind of rebounded back about 10 years ago to where it’s pretty edible again, but still nothing like the good old days.
October 8, 2022 at 12:55 pm #203802Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch tonight, watching the game. Along with a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars. Right after we finish watching Charles Stanley, that is!
Din-din today was Hamburger Helper (Salisbury), a couple ears of Aces High sweet corn, a piece of Cherry pie from the Amish restaurant, and a Coke.
Time to get laundry started now. And I will, unfortunately, have to stick to my prediction. 7-2 Phillies your unhappy final. Move on to 2023.

October 8, 2022 at 1:26 pm #203803In the run-up to this decisive game I am digesting two bowls of Armenian meatball soup and a small Caesar salad. Dessert TBA. Rah Cardinals!
October 8, 2022 at 1:29 pm #203804I remember coming out of the stadium after the game 2 loss to Texas in 2011 with the ushers telling us to “shake it off, we’ll get them tomorrow!” Same thing yesterday… But we know how 2011 ended up. Now go get ‘em for the win tonight!
October 8, 2022 at 1:35 pm #203805Pugs, I don’t eat a lot of pizza these days, but I agree on Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa John’s, etc., not being as good as they were years ago. Or maybe my older taste buds are more finicky. One chain I think is worthy though is Marco’s Pizza. Wife likes it much better too and there’s one about a mile away from our house. Maybe that’ll be my din-din. Was also thinking of cooking a lentil/vegetable/sausage soup/stew and a cake of cornbread, but that’s a lot more work. It’s goes well in the cooler weather.
October 8, 2022 at 1:44 pm #203806Isofar as pies go, the best pizza I’ve had in the St. Louis area is made at a place that’s been in business for over 50 years called, Pizza-A-Go-Go.” They don’t deliver…
October 8, 2022 at 1:54 pm #203807The Rays/Indians are knotted at 0-0 and heading to the home half of the 9th in Cleveland. I’m enjoying watching this tight, well played ballgame, but with Tampa facing elimination, I’m guessing that Rays fans watching the close contest must feel as though they’re watching a loved one as they attempt to defuse a bomb…
October 8, 2022 at 1:57 pm #203808I used to be a big fan of Shakey’s Pizza, but they seem to have disappeared. Did they get eaten up by another outfit?
October 8, 2022 at 2:02 pm #203809CardFrance…Not sure about other areas of the country, but it’s been at least 40 years since I can recall a Shakey’s in or near St. Louis. They used to be pretty popular though.

stlcard25ParticipantFunny enough, I will be having pizza this evening too…at the best pizza joint I know in PA. Perhaps that’ll be the ticket for our Redbirds to come together as one like the fan base has. Nola has had a few rough outings since the end of August, so let’s score some runs!
October 8, 2022 at 2:23 pm #203811They had a great Shakey’s pizza in Madison, Wisconsin about 30 years ago and they were wonderful. This country is in dire need of a new truly tasty pizza chain. Maybe a few of us should go in business together and get one going. Euro Dandy would be a great marketing manager. TD and Bling as our CEO tandem. Wooster and Cardinal In France as master elite cooks. RatsBuddy as lead delivery driver…… especially cruising from house to house in his new Cardinal red mustang. How could we go wrong?
October 8, 2022 at 2:41 pm #2038121. Lars Nootbaar (L) CF

9. Tommy Edman (S) SSOctober 8, 2022 at 2:42 pm #203813Pugs…Haha! Well, that may work out okay, however as a potential CEO of Cardinal Nation Pizza Inc, I would demand it be written into my contract that I have full access to the new Cardinal red Mustang. Rats can use my ’73 Pinto for deliveries…
October 8, 2022 at 2:49 pm #203814My only thought on tonight’s line-up is that I hope it works out.
October 8, 2022 at 2:59 pm #203815
jj-cf-stlParticipantOn 7-11-2022 Mikolas vs Nola, @ StL, resulted in a 6-1 Cardinal victory.
Nola logged 7.0 IP, 5 ER and a game score of 50.
Mikolas went 7.1 IP, 1 ER and a GmSc of 67.
Dickerson led StL batters going 2 for 3, HR off Nola and 3 rbi.
October 8, 2022 at 3:00 pm #203816Okay, since we’re coming together on pizza, it’s not complete unless you list your preferred toppings. Wife and I usually go with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and onions. I like adding peppers sometimes, but not so much for her.
October 8, 2022 at 3:03 pm #203817It looks strikingly similar to the one that ran out of gas yesterday.
October 8, 2022 at 3:03 pm #203818Gotta admit Yepez in RF scares me, but we need more offense for sure. Not surprising after yesterday’s game.
October 8, 2022 at 3:10 pm #203819EuroDandy…I’m not sure anything will ever scare me after yesterday’s game.
October 8, 2022 at 3:16 pm #203820One thing’s certain…The baseball will seek out RF.
October 8, 2022 at 3:17 pm #203821I am flattered but must refuse the co-CEO role as being above my pay grade. I could be the costumed mascot outside the store barking them in.
