    Paid - Annual

Think I would go this way right now with the lineup. I do not think Dylan is the long term lead off guy, because as his power develops he will be better served down in the order. But this year, this might work:

    Carlson
    Dickerson/Yepez
    Goldschmidt
    Arenado
    O’Neill
    Molina
    DeJong/Sosa
    Bader
    Edman

As the season goes on, obviously things could change. O’Neill is potentially an MVP and could end up at the 3 spot. But versus a righty I like the two lefty hitters starting the game, with the thumpers behind them.

Against a lefty I would put Goldy or O’Neill at 2 and the other at 3. Yepez would hit lower, depending on how he is handling big league pitching and what we are getting out of DeJong, Sosa, and Molina.

    Bikemike:

    Carlson
    Dickerson/Yepez
    Goldschmidt
    Arenado
    O’Neill
    Molina
    DeJong/Sosa
    Bader
    Edman

If Yadi drops down out of the middle of the order, then Carlson will likely be needed in the middle. There was a significant drop off vs righties from 2019 to 2021, so it is a possibility. Whether we get middle of the order production from any of the DH hopefuls is another factor affecting Carlson’s lineup slot. It is going to be fun to see how things develop and see how Ollie handles whatever develops.

The MLB Network is carrying the Cards/Mets game today. But BSMW is not. So……will it be blacked out here in SW Indiana?

Others could confirm this, but I thought that maybe blackouts aren’t in force in spring training.

I’ve had games on the MLB Network blacked out this spring training. And they were available on the Cubs, Reds, WhiteSox broadcasts.

I use MLB.TV rather than MLB Network and the game is on the former today.

I was able to see the game today. Unfortunately. However, I didn’t think either DeGrom or Scherzer looked all that great. And Carlson and Bader were swinging the bats good.

It’s going to very interesting to see where Albert is slotted in the batting order once the regular season starts. The “respect” aspect will definitely come into play. No matter what the circumstances, do not ever expect to see Albert batting south of the #6 hole while in a St. Louis Cardinals uniform. I think we’ll see him batting 5th here next month.

Agree Pugs, not sure how they can stagger Yadi and Albert, definitely not both in front of Bader.

We won’t have to worry about it in October if they don’t add a good starting pitcher or two…. 😢

I am ok with the Cardinals offensive performing exactly as well as it did today with Albert in the lineup. 29 runs a game outta do it.

First atbat this spring. Bases loaded in the 1st. What does he do? Yep, what he’s going to do ALOT this year. 643 doubleplay.

FWIW, Albert’s 413 career GDP is the all-time career leader.

Hoping for a win on my birthday, I’m all of 43 now…man I feel old, especially given that today is also my oldest nephew’s birthday and he’s 31…

Well I’m not too hot on verhagen. He could be a serviceable out of the bullpen but I just don’t feel he has long term starter potential. Maybe a spot start here or there during a long streak of games. I think the core guys that are playing today are looking good though arenado isn’t looking locked in. Dejong looks a lot better, hopefully translates to the season.

Marlins have some good pitching. They could be very improved this year.

Agree, 1982willie. VerHagen has likely pitched himself out of rotation consideration.

We are less than a week away from the first 2022 Game Thread. And with that game thread comes the din-din reports.

Be advised tomorrow (Friday, 1 April) I am thinking about heading back to the Gasthof (amish restaurant) and having catfish fiddlers. Haven’t had any for a few months. And nope, this is no April Fools joke either!
