1982willie? Get any rain down there around Evansville? The last couple of days we had almost three inches up here around Loogootee. It was much needed, things were very dry.

So those 5 players have been above average. Now for the bad news…Donovan (70 ops+), in a team leading 57 PA’s over this span, has logged a .604 ops with a 5/13 BB/K. During his 13 GS he has batted first or second 9 times with a .298 obp the last 14 days. Not exactly “table setting” with Golden-Nado sporting nearly 200 ops+’s.
But it gets worse. Edman, has a 0 ops+ in 51 PA’s, with 9 total bases. Marmol has already made the adjustment, getting Tommy out of the leadoff spot. Tommy’s 1/12 BB/K points at his issue. When he’s going well, his better plate discipline takes walks, but when he gets in his hack-a–holic mode he leaves the zone and deals with weaker contact chasing pitches.
Capel 54 ops+
Sosa 40
Pujols 34
Herrera 18
Noot -8
Knizner -31
Romine -31I’d like to see Carlson at leadoff while he’s hot. Then one of Gorman / Yepez second and 5th.
July 9, 2022 at 2:12 pm #190613Carlson has some extreme splits this year. He is hitting .357 batting RH but only .225 batting LH.

ParticipantSeems odd too since Carlson seems more like a natural left handed hitter, at least to me.

ParticipantWe need edman to get back to form. Yepez and Gorman are too free swinging to be up top. To me you are putting the same guy up there as a struggling edman. I guess with those guys you hope to get some extra base hits but I think edmans speed gives him just as much chance at extra base hits. We are lacking a proven number two hole hitter. Carlson could be that at times but then we lack a proven 5 hole hitter.
July 9, 2022 at 3:50 pm #190639Gallegos doing what he does lately.
July 9, 2022 at 3:53 pm #190641Be good that marmol saw that bunt. Sheesh.
July 9, 2022 at 3:55 pm #190642See what happens when you know how to bunt! Drives me CRAZY!
July 9, 2022 at 3:57 pm #190644That’s how you play this game.

jj-cf-stlParticipant2022 team ops+ by month:
April 96
May 112
June 107
July 104
August 144August is not a typo but it sure could qualify.
August individually:Pujols 239, 15 GS
Arenado 217, 27
Goldschmidt 213, 28Dickerson 182, 14
Noot 177, 28
Knizner 157, 10 GS
I’m somewhat disappointed with the lack of Knizner starts.Donovan 127, 17
Edman 124, 23
O’Neill 119, 23Gorman 97, 16
PDJ 87, 21
Carlson 86, 20Molina 11 ops+, 19 GS
It’s tempting to bash on the prima-donna, but I’ll pass and quietly wait for the legacy contract to expire.September 2, 2022 at 7:22 am #198671I really hope Molina ends up staying in the organization in some capacity when he retires.
September 2, 2022 at 7:27 am #198674It will depend on his interest level. My guess is that it will be more ceremonial/advisory than daily work. He has a lot of outside baseball interests.
