Agree with the announcers – with Yepez at third I am trying at least one bunt this AB.

Gallegos was squeezed on a couple of tosses, but most of them he was not close. Really looked rusty.

I think the Romero-Sosa trade is going to look really bad next year. Sosa is a player.

Bizzaro finish. Better now than Friday.

Although it looked pretty silly, I’m not at all worried about about the BP and 4 consecutive BB’s. My concern is the recent inability of the bats to come up with key hits vs. substandard pitching. I don’t consider myself to be overly pessimistic, but if the Redbirds don’t start hitting they’re in trouble come Friday.

MIL trails AZ 4-1 in the 8th and PHI leads 1-0 at HOU as Nola works a perfect game thru 6 full IP.

    I guess we’ll see near-perfect Nola Friday.

I don’t know, Euro. That’s 3 days. He’s out of there now after 88 pitches in 6.2 IP. AZ @ MIL now 4-4 in the home half of the 9th.

Duh, 1td. Of course it won’t be Friday. Probably Saturday. When I said that I was thinking we had a full week until playoffs start, knowing full well that today is Monday and not Friday. Sort of seems like Friday to me since it’s the beginning of the last series of the season. Plus I quit tracking what day of the week it is when I retired. 😉

Haha! You had me scared for a second thinking about Nola in the opener. I’m the same way with days of the week. Since I unlaced them, if it’s raining I just know it’s a Monday. If the sun’s shining on a beautiful day I’m convinced it’s Saturday…

With the Phillies holding the tiebreaker over the Padres I wonder if they really want to move up a seed.

Three in St Louis, then potentially the Braves, or face the top of the Mets rotation and then the Dodgers after their bye?

I’d want to start in St Louis myself. Would the Padres try to tank?

so cal, very good points. I’ve been so focused on the MIL-PHI angle that I took my eye off the PHI-SD angle. SD won tonight so maybe they aren’t good at tanking! They are still one game up on PHI, which puts PHI in the tanker’s driver seat.

SD’s magic number is 2 for the #5 seed and PHI’s magic number is 3 for the less desired #5 seed.

Well, that’s a disappointing way to lose…seems like the team is playing without an edge. I am hoping they can ramp up the intensity in the next couple days to be ready for the Wild Card series.

As for opponent…I’d much rather play San Diego than Philadelphia, but you play who’s in front of you. We are certainly not going into the playoffs hot, but sometimes that doesn’t matter.
