Seems like I remember Gibby and Marichal having a few 1-0 and 2-1 type games against each other.

The most famous was a 15 inning scoreless duel between Marichal and (I think) Warren Spawn

EuroDandy…The only reason Gibson lost 9 games with a 1.12 ERA in ’68 was that every time he took a turn, he was facing names like Juan Marichal, Gaylord Perry, Don Drysdale, Ferguson Jenkins, Phil Niekro etc. A HOF’er for an opponent at every turn…Haha!

LeGrand…Marichal and Spahn’s pitch counts in that game were 227 and 201 respectively. Willie Mays ended it in the 16th with a solo tater off Spahn. At the time, Marichal was 25 and Spahn was 42…Haha!

Needing a run to win, don’t you try to bunt the runner over to start? We will see what Ollie does.

Does DeLuzio bunt? The Cards don’t have murderer’s row coming up this inning. If he bunts Dickerson over to 3B, the I think Gorman is up next, a strong K candidate.

I was wrong. Carlson was up next, but they walked him to bring up Gorman.

That DeLuzio bunt was fundamentally very sound and a thing of beauty. Don’t think I’ve seen a bunt that fundamental since Fernando Vina.

    That’s right! Mind boggling

Really need Knizner to come through here. Just loft one to the outfield, Andrew!

Walked Gorman too. That was not good for them. It’s on Knizner now. He just walked Gorman, so don’t be jumpy in the box.

What a dumb decision to send Dickerson. That wasn’t even little league distance.

Surprised they sent Dickerson on that shallow fly out.

Well, we used our two good relievers…so what now? You can’t waste good opportunities like that.
