I probably typed it right, and my spell check changed it. 🙂
September 17, 2022 at 8:05 pm #201176BikeMike…EuroDandy took honors on the first trivia question, but the second is still up for grabs. You should have a good shot seeing you attended games in the 60’s.
September 17, 2022 at 8:06 pm #201177That game I saw back in ‘66 featured a lot of guys with Cardinals connections. I mentioned White and Groat. Richie “Dick” Allen played left field that night for the Phillies.
Joe Torre played first base that night, where the future Cardinal often played even though he was primarily a catcher. He played first that night though, as former Cardinal Gene Oliver caught. Not only did Oliver catcher, he slammed two home runs that night.
My uncle kept teasing me that the Cardinals were in trade talks to re-acquire Oliver for Tim McCarver. I thought he was serious and felt that McCarver was the better player and was hoping they would not do that deal.
September 17, 2022 at 8:08 pm #2011784 th largest crowd in stadium history.Lotta people want to see 699 or 700 I guess. I just want to win.
September 17, 2022 at 8:09 pm #201179DeLuzzio pulls off a Bader!
September 17, 2022 at 8:10 pm #201180Wooster…Yeah, that’s true, but they’re also 8 games in 1st place and it’s a real nice Saturday night in St. Louis. Nice way to spend it.
September 17, 2022 at 8:10 pm #2011812 hard hit ball’s off Quintana this inning. They leave him in. Drama…
September 17, 2022 at 8:10 pm #201182Very nice catch by DeLuzio. I don’t know if he survives the 40 man crunch in the off season. But he’s a very nice 4th OF.
September 17, 2022 at 8:11 pm #201183Also didn’t see it mentioned, so I will in case someone didn’t see Matz was activated and Hicks to the IL with arm fatigue/neck spasms
September 17, 2022 at 8:12 pm #201184Cards667…I’ll be darned.
September 17, 2022 at 8:14 pm #201185I was just going to say…. go ahead and walk him… we don’t want a 2 run home run when you can get the next guy.
Glad he popped out to Goldie
September 17, 2022 at 8:15 pm #201186Quint certainly deserves a couple of runs. Hopefully the bottom of the order can provide some support in the 8th.
September 17, 2022 at 8:15 pm #201187Quintana pops him up.
September 17, 2022 at 8:16 pm #201188Ouch…14 K’s.
September 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm #201189If no one gets the second trivia question by the end of the visitor half of the 9th, I’ll go ahead and post it.
September 17, 2022 at 8:23 pm #201190Pesky Cincys bring in a right handed Farmer named Buck to plow us down. Time for a run from us!
September 17, 2022 at 8:24 pm #201191First Mr Green Jeans and now Buck Farmer!
September 17, 2022 at 8:27 pm #201192
stlcard25Participant16 Ks in 29 plate appearances. Ouch.
September 17, 2022 at 8:32 pm #201193Let’s get to the bottom nine scoreless…. before we start talking walk-off Brad!!!!!!
Dang It!!!!!
Now let’s get the DP
September 17, 2022 at 8:32 pm #201194Don’t know bout using Helsley now if it goes extra innings. Could he go 2 if needed?
September 17, 2022 at 8:33 pm #201195I will take a guess on the all star pitcher and say Don Drysdale.
September 17, 2022 at 8:37 pm #201196First Mr Green Jeans and now Buck Farmer!
If Capt Kangaroo comes in the game, I’m going to bed.
September 17, 2022 at 8:39 pm #201197The answer to the question of which pitcher worked 14 consecutive innings in All-Star competition without allowing an ER is Juan Marichal. His All-Star scoreless streak began in ’64 and continued until ’71. In all, the HOF’er appeared in 8 All-Star games and allowed only 2 runs over 18 innings of work against some pretty good AL hitters. Almost looks like he’s working for both of these teams in tonight’s game…
September 17, 2022 at 8:40 pm #201198Alright….. we made it to the bottom 9….. now let’s talk Walk-off. 🙂
September 17, 2022 at 8:41 pm #201199BikeMike…I’m surprised someone didn’t guess Drysdale, but I’m also surprised someone didn’t think of Marichal. He was a good one!
