Last Apple game we had I tried the Apple site and they wanted credit card numbers. Not me. The link Brain posted says they have wisely dropped that. Just want billing address and a phone number. Will probably try it that way myself. My usual free streaming website did carry the Apple game last time.
When I went on temp disability one time I dropped cable and went with digital antenna for awhile. It’s surprising how many TV stations you can get for free right out of the air. Like 20 plus around here.
Their starting pitcher is good. They have a couple good relief guys too but they’re not doing well with road wins. Good chance for us to simplify the end of this season. We are on a bit of a roll right now. Let’s keep it up!

Go Cardinals!Heck of a picture Carter. That ’82 Brewers team was one of the best teams I have seen. What a stacked lineup. Molitor, Yount, Cooper, Thomas, Ogilvie, Simmons, Gantner, Money….wow. It is amazing that our Cards beat them. What a great series that was!

gscottar…Yeah, they had a line-up that didn’t give an opposing pitcher any air. Problem with that ’82 MIL. team was the rotation and the absence of Fingers for the WS. Vuckovich was good that season, but LHP Mike Caldwell was the guy that almost gave the Cardinals more than they could handle in that year’s WS. They didn’t really have what I would call a stopper and the Redbirds had “walking underwear”…
REMEMBER……The Dodger series is not for another ten days. It is NOT this weekend. We have the Reds this weekend. Those same Reds who have just dropped the first two games of their series with the Pirates – at Cincinnati.
Watch, the Reds will come to St. Louis and win four of the five and let Milwaukee back in the race.
Indeed, we are a week away from the Cardinals traveling to LA. We have two with Milwaukee, then five with Cincy and three with San Diego first.
Meanwhile, the Brewers play us, then the Yankees, then the Mets. It would be nice to create a little more divisional space before that series in LA.

Betting on anyone but Edman would be a guess, although I think there’s a fair chance that Masyn Winn is playing there by the end of 2023. The Cards love their up the middle defense and I could see them using Winn and Edman as double play partners for the next few years. Gorman’s bat could force the issue in year 2, though.
Yeah, I’ve been hearing about a youngster named Winn and then there’s always our buddy DeJong, but my guess is that unless Tommy Edman somehow permits a routine GB to scoot right through his wicket to allow the winning run to score in the 7th game of the ’22 WS, he’ll be the starting SS when the Redbirds break camp in Jupiter next spring…
Winn’s supposed to have a really strong arm. His range is supposed to be real good as well. He’s listed at 5″-11′ 180 lbs. His build sounds like he can pounce like a cat.

Here’s some info for Wooster and others in the same boat that might help you with the Cards’ Apple TV game. The “boat” I’m talking about is refusing to give Apple your credit card info for free content. You can try it out for one of the games this Friday (16th) so you are prepared for the Cards’ game on the 23rd.
Wooster, I don’t think anything has changed since you last tried to get an ID (the instructions Brian linked are from 2014). Were you doing it on a PC via the web site (tv.apple.com)? If so, pretty sure you’ll still need to provide credit card info to go that route. The way to get an Apple login ID without providing credit card info is to do it on an Apple device OR via the iTunes app on a PC if you want to stick with a PC. You can download the iTunes app via the Microsoft store for free. Yep, another step to take.
Here’s where it might get tricky, though. Even with the Apple login credentials, I have read and been told you still cannot view “free” content on a PC via the web without giving credit card info. I know Apple users who say they have paid for subscriptions with debit cards/Paypal and still can’t view the stuff they’ve already paid for via PC/web unless they give credit card info as a payment source. They have to view it through their Apple device or on a smart TV/smart phone with the Apple TV app. The problem is, if you want to view the game on a PC, there is no Apple TV app for a PC.
I just established the Apple login ID via iTunes on my PC without having to give credit card info, so I know that works. If, in fact, that will not enable me to watch the game on my PC via the web, I’ll try it on my TV. I prefer the TV anyway, so I’ll try that first. Problem is my family room TV (where I normally watch games) is a Sony TV. No surprise that it doesn’t support the Apple TV app since it is an Android O/S (Google). My Samsung TV does have the Apple TV app, so there’s an option for me to watch in the bedroom. Another option is a Roku device. Roku will host the Apple TV app and I have one on a TV in my workout room. I’m thinking that is the option I prefer, so I’ll probably move the Roku to my family room Sony TV for the game.
If you want to know whatever works or doesn’t work for me, just ask after Friday and I’ll let you know.
Regarding Winn, he is very good already and could be elite at SS. Most outlets have him at least a 60 grade defender and he’s got an absolute cannon for an arm. As mentioned here, no throwing errors in his time at Springfield.

Offensively, he’s similar to Edman, really…with the caveat that he’s only 20 and already in AA so he could have untapped power coming. He’s more of a gap to gap guy right now, but the plate discipline looks better than Edman, who is more of a free swinger. Winn has excellent speed, maybe the second best base stealer in the system after Antico. He’s at 39 swipes this year with 5 caught stealing, after 32 steals last year.

Winn is plus defender and isn’t just supposed to have a really strong arm, it’s plus, plus for sure. In the futures game he was asked about Oneil Cruz 98mph throw and he said if he got a chance he’d break it. He got a chance and threw it 100.5 mph. I also have seen an interview with Justin Turner where he was “talking smack” about Winn throwing that had and how he should back off and make good throws and it’s not all about how hard you can throw. I don’t think Justin knew the whole context of the situation or he just wanted something to complain about. But anyway, Winn, defensively he’s for sure a MLB SS. His bat is what’s going to need to develop and prove it can play. 2021 at A he hit .262/.370/.380 and got moved to A+ where he struggled to .210/.240/.304. 2022 he started at A+ and hit .349/.404/.566 and moved to AA where he’s hit .263/.348/.440 at age 20. He’s shown more pop this year with 34 2B, 8 3B (1 in AA), 12 HR. His K% is around 24%, which is high, especially for the speed he possess, which is a lot and 24 SB vs 5 CS at AA. I haven’t seen enough of him to know if he has base stealing talent or just base stealing speed, and yes there’s a difference. Edman is fast, technically O’Neill is faster. I’d take my chances with Edman over O’Neill stealing a base any day, and O’Neill isn’t bad.
1td, it’s really irritating to pay for MLB tv and have games blacked out. It’s really really irritating when they heist additional games from you for things like Apple and YouTube games. Fine if you want to make money from Apple and YouTube, but don’t penalize your customer base to have to jump through even the slightest additional hoop to watch a game. But, I guess if they allowed MLB tv customers to watch via their normal methods, then Apple and others wouldn’t pay MLB as much as they do for exclusive rights.
Yeah, they have Bush as the MIL SP. I read that the Brewers are scrapping the rotation for this game and going with a BP carousel. Still no line-up that I can find.

EuroDandy…The only time I subscribed to MLBTV was in the fall of ’13 when I subscribed for one month. Mrs. 1TD and myself were on vacation in Germany and Luxembourg while the post-season and WS was being played, so although I wasn’t subjected to any blackouts, I had to drink a lot of coffee…I’ve heard from many others that MLBTV can be a nuisance for people in this country who fall victims to the numerous blackouts. What a flim-flam, eh?
