The guy that needs to get going is Carlson. He is just not producing like most envisioned. A couple of years ago I predicted he would be similar to Andrew Benintendi. Some thought I was selling Dylan too short. Perhaps I was being too generous.

Carlson has had three different runs.

    April 40 wRC+

    May-July 129 wRC+

    August 90 wRC+

Dylan clearly doesn’t like the “A” months.

Final score – Milwaukee wins over Pittsburgh 6-1. Need to win tonight to keep the six game advantage.

Anybody checked the Brewers schedule lately? I believe it’s next weekend they have three with the Yankees and then three with the Mets. All six games are at Milwaukee, however.

Man, that 7 and 8 spot are hitting what, maybe a combined buck-eighty? Even a 6.10 ERA pitcher will probably carve those guys up.

I stand corrected on the Brewers schedule. It’s Sept 16-21 that they have six games with the New York squads. Three with the Yankees and then three with the Mets. And yes, all are at Milwaukee. They now go to Arizona for a four game weekend series.

Looked like a 3rd grade tumbling class out in short RF.

bccran eating his socks tonight LOL! Well small bump in the road last night I guess. Hey its baseball – we’re not gonna win them all. Got the RH hitting line-up in tonight. Read an article about another up coming superman Mason Winn. Gonna be 10ft tall by the time he gets here. We’ll be playing Cincy again soon next series at home. Hope we do better tonight.
Din-din will be Meatloaf and baked potatoes with ketchup. Mixed veggies too.
    Go Cardinals!

Having Carlson and Dejong in the lineup in two different areas makes it very difficult to score! Those guys simply can’t hit! Yadi can’t either but he is Yadi so it’s okay!

Carlson was supposed to be the next star. He is still young, but has not shown the consistency you need to take it to the next level.

I’m surprised 2 runs didn’t score on that base hit by India. Might have caught a break.

Hope this isn’t a carbon copy of last night’s game. Reds a stringing together some base hits this inning.

These high ERA starters are rough on the Cardinals.

I couldn’t agree more, Carlson has not produced like they anticipated, I think he maybe should’ve been left to Develop more🤔

Sure wish Q could eat more innings. Hope Hicks has control today. Need Edman and O’Neill to continue with their recent production.

Bottom half of our order us dead at the plate so far. Why is Albert behind Nado. O’Niel’s been way hotter lately.

Edman has been the 5th most valuable Cardinal position player by Win Probability Added. Goldy, Arenado, Donovan and Nootbaar are ahead of him. If you remove his scorching April, he’s 8th, behind Carlson, O’Neill and Dickerson. He’s undoubtedly a good player and provides good value as a super utility guy who has filled in where the SS and 2B position have needed help.

This whole post looked suspect to me. Where did you get your data? Fangraphs has the following WPA numbers.

    Goldy 12.54
    Arenado 11.03
    Edman 8.8
    Carlson 6.76
    Donovan 6.3
    O’Neill 5.9
    Nootbaar 4.1
    Dickerson 3.38

And not sure what the purpose of it is if you’re after a fair comparison, but if you take away Edman’s April, he has a WPA of 7.71, which would still be a solid 3rd best for the team’s position and utility players. WPA ironically doesn’t attempt to indicate how much a player’s total game contributes to “win probability added” since it doesn’t include defense. Of course, we know this is where Edman provides the most consistent value, and thus, the gap in his relative value compared to others would become even wider.

Self inflicted pain is an epidemic these days.

And Yadi just broke an 0-22 skid.

David Bell uses a lot of pitchers. He trots guys out there left and right, even in blowouts.

Yadi and Edman have set the table for Dickerson (PHing for Carlson) and Goldy. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out in the 7th. Tied 2-2.

This guy has the name – Buck Farmer. No way I want to get into a bar fight against a guy named Buck Farmer.

Terrible AB by Dickerson. Swung at two pitches way out of the zone.

EuroDandy…I’m with you on the need for Q to work a little deeper into games during his turns. He was fortunate to leave today’s game tied at 2-2 after scattering 7 hits with a BB over 4.2 IP. In his 5 turns as a Cardinal, he’s averaging just a hair under 5 IP per start. Gotta do a little better than that.

Come on Goldie…. you are due!!!!

That hurts. Needed at least one run out of that inning.
