I was just dreaming earlier today if we could have just convinced the Marlins to take Flaherty instead of Alcantara we would be one of the favorites to win it all! These 2 guys are the classic example of the difference between potential and production! If only …….

It’s raining pretty good out here in StL. Co. at the moment. However Mrs. 1TD is the weather girl in the household and she tells me that the rain is supposed to go away right around the time the ballgame is slated to begin. I hope she’s right, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there were a delayed start. It was nice weather up ’til about an hour ago. They should have played this game at 1:15 pm like it was originally scheduled on my trusty little folding pocket schedule that I get from the gas station every year before the season starts. Leave it to ESPN to throw a monkey wrench into the gearbox…

Cards667…”Brad gets annoying because he sometimes sounds like he’s hopped up on amphetamines.” Haha…He sure does! I still like him okay, but whatever you do, don’t give that kid any coffee!

I hear you, Steve. Alcantara is just so dominating. Every time I see his highlights (which are nearly every time he takes the mound), it sends a painful electrical shock right down my spine. He was ours……all ours. It’s at the point now where I don’t even want to hear his name. It might be best for all of us if Brian banned usage of his name here at The Cardinal Nation.

I totally trust your wifey’s meteorologist abilities, TD. I know one thing……..TD would not have got on one knee in front of any lady who would lead him astray…… especially when it comes to Cardinal games.

Sorry Carter. Didn’t intend to ruffle any feathers…… you’re a good Joe.

The Doppler Radar shows rain in the St. Louis area till around 8:00. I am going to assume this game will be delayed for awhile.

So……I am going out to water the landscaping and then jog a little. The exercise will get that harmful stuff out of my body..:)

And the Brewers down the Cubs today by the score of 9-7. Need a win to stay six games up. Oh, and Front Row Amy was nowhere to be seen. Too bad!

I won’t be viewing tonight since we dumped cable in 2017.

And yes, as far as din-dins and all, balance is the name of the game. Here at the Bike Mike household we regularly feature salads and healthy choices, including our weekly “meatless Monday.” But now and then we will toss a burger on the grill and crack open a cold, frosty one.

But then again, a few times those burgers might be Beyond Burgers, which are pretty darn tasty.

Oh, and I should add regular exercise is in vogue around here as well. Can’t sit around in front of the TV all the time – only when the Cardinal game is on, and a few other times just for, as I said, balance. In fact this evening’s game could find me listening to some of it on the KMOX broadcast while out riding the bike.

However at the ball park, it’s gotta be a hot dog and cold, frosty one every time.

Pugs…I’m with you on SA. He’s gone. When you know your HS sweetheart has left you for someone else, the last thing you want is for your buddy to tell you that he saw them together at the bar last night…

Ha ha! Right on, TD. And I think we should adopt your “SA” designation for that pitcher whom Miami fleeced us out of.

Since Front Row Amy stiffed Rat today by not attending the game, our boys really need to come through with a win to salvage Rat’s day.

And BicycleMike? You’re going to make it to 100 with your healthy lifestyle. You may witness another 5 or 6 World series Cardinal triumphs before going to that big diamond in the sky.

Weather report from the Bling Cave 10 bling miles SW of Busch. Loud and wet T-storms moved through and are now gone. High overcast, getting lighter, and light drizzle. No wind. Some distant thunder now and then.

I still like to enjoy an ice cold bottle of beer, but I long since gave it up at the ballpark and stick with the usual fare of hot dogs, salted in the shells, and Coca Cola. The reason for this is that in the past, I found myself focusing more of my attention on the location of the beer man than I did on the action on the field…But we still have a favorite haunt that we always stop in and celebrate a Redbird victory with a couple of ice cold draught beers on the way home from the game. Furthermore, I grew up with the owner of the place and he charges me and my ballgame sidekicks roughly $8 less for a cold beer than what Billy Jr. does…

Bling…Yep, I’m couched in the den and looking out the front storm door and it’s looking pretty good. Also feels like the rain cooled things off a little.

What’s the ETA on the start?

I assume now that I am done watering and jogging that I have time to jump in the shower and get all cleaned up in time for the 1st pitch. Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for this one. Along with a couple 7×50 Palma Real President cigars. Along with a can of Beef Ravioli about the 5th inning.

I was just dreaming earlier today if we could have just convinced the Marlins to take Flaherty instead of Alcantara

At the time Miami probably wanted Flaherty, probably Hicks too, and the Cardianls said no. Flaherty was a highly regarded prospect at the time, Alcantara had some major league experience but was a thrower then with upside. Cudos to Miami for developing Alcantara into a pitcher and a very good one at that. When the trade was mad I remember being on the old Cardinals forum talking about how trading Alcantara wasn’t a big deal because he was a thrower and probably destined for a relief role because of it. It was Gallen I didn’t like giving up, but understand you have to give to get (even if it turns out the Cardinals didn’t get a whole lot either), but I agreed giving up Gallen was better than giving up Flaherty, Hicks, or Weaver. Can’t be right all the time I guess.

Well, you knew Molina was going be behind HP, but Carlson’s also in there for the first time in a few days. That’s good. I was beginning to have concerns related to the onset of atrophy.

I like the lineup. Probably prefer Gorman at DH and Donovan at 2B, but I’m sure they want to commit to Gorman at the 2B and not the DH. I also don’t like Donovan at DH because of the defensive versatility. When they bring in a LHP to face Gorman late and the Cardinals counter with Pujols, then your forced to move Edman to 2B and bring DeJong into the game. If Gorman was at DH then it doesn’t effect anything.

The best news about this series is it appears that Dejong is finally out of the normal lineup! That greatly increases our likelihood of success!

I was disparaging ESPN earlier in the thread, but it’s pretty neat having Wainwright miked up while he’s getting loose in the BP.

Waino and Yadi have left the pen headed to the dugout. First pitch shortly.

Wainwright throws his last pitch in the BP to get loose, says to Maddux, “okay, I’m ready” then turns to Molina and his other teammates out there in the BP and says, “Let’s get some”…That was outstanding!

Wainwright sneaks a 91 mph fastball that looks like 98 by Contreras for the K. I guess when you’re 40, you have to know how to pitch.

Going back to the announcers I like Jon Sciambi, even being a Cubs announcer, but not a fan of Eduardo Perez or David Cone, or ARod when he was on there or his alternative broadcast thing they have done trying to find gold like they did with the Mannings on NFL.
