ParticipantSome guys have had a rough night tonight but thankfully a few had a great game. Mikolas seems to have been great. Hopefully we close this game out. I’m getting kind of tired so going to have to call it.
August 19, 2022 at 11:24 pm #196412I think debunk accustomed to striking out, that’s why he does the dead man Walking routine to the batters box. Lol
August 19, 2022 at 11:24 pm #196413Here comes the scary part
August 19, 2022 at 11:26 pm #196414The first two batters in the 9th have hit Hicks hard. 1st and 3rd, no outs.
August 19, 2022 at 11:27 pm #196415EuroDandy…Neither have I. Just having a little fun. I did once make everyone leave during the 7th game of the ’06 NLCS. My wife’s friend and her boyfreind came by along with my oldest son, his girlfriend and two of my son’s HS and college friends. They were all talking about this, that and the other thing while the close battle raged at Shea. I told them that I was too nervous to hear all that chatter while the game was on. Chavez robbed Rolen and I asked them to leave. They thought I was kidding. I wasn’t. They went and watched the rest of the game about a mile away at a sports bar. The rest of the night turned out real good…
August 19, 2022 at 11:28 pm #196416Hicks isn’t fooling anyone.
August 19, 2022 at 11:32 pm #196417What happened to Pugs? I guess all the talk of old timers like Cookie, Patek, Blue Moon, etc. put him into an early old man nap.
August 19, 2022 at 11:33 pm #196418Nope, i’ll 2nd the scary part
August 19, 2022 at 11:33 pm #196419Hicks recovers from the bad start to K the next 3 Serpientes. Final is 5-1.
August 19, 2022 at 11:34 pm #19642016 above sea level and a full 4 game lead in the NLC…Hopefully this train has no brakes!
GO REDBIRDS!
August 19, 2022 at 11:35 pm #196421Hicks pulls the old Mitch Williams routine. Gets in trouble then strikes out the side.
August 19, 2022 at 11:40 pm #196422gscottar…Yeah, lets hope he doesn’t grow a mullet and sport a headband.
August 19, 2022 at 11:42 pm #196423td, I figured you were funning. On a similar note, if it’s a serious game, like a Cardinals’ World Series or NLCS game, I don’t want to be around others who are there just for the social aspect of it. I guess a good example would be Super Bowl parties. I’m good with them, unless the Packers are playing. Then I need to be with just real fans whose sole focus is the game. Unfortunately, the Cards and Packers haven’t caused me any issues with this in recent years.
August 19, 2022 at 11:43 pm #196424I think Hicks picked up the velo significantly after the first couple batters.
August 19, 2022 at 11:50 pm #196425It’s a Winner! About 2 thirds of the team hit. Other third 0 fers. Team rips 3 for 11. Could of been better but 7th inning was enough to win. Mikolas pitched great again. Seems like Hicks always lets the first 2 batters on. Hits this time-usuallyfers. it’s walks. All in all good solid win. Great to see Goldy and Nado both hitting.
Go Cardinals!August 19, 2022 at 11:56 pm #196426Obviously it’s always a longshot, but Goldy’s got a realistic chance in all 3 categories to be the first guy in the NL in 85 years. Kind of interesting that the last guy to do it in the NL was also a Cardinal. Even if he doesn’t get it, it’ll be fun to watch him try.

stlcard25ParticipantGood win last night…glad to take care of business against the middling lefty. Hope to see more good pitching and Goldy bombs the rest of the weekend.
August 20, 2022 at 9:23 am #196435Yep, hope this surge continues.
August 20, 2022 at 9:37 am #196436DeJong so far this month 53 at bats 22 ks
August 20, 2022 at 1:33 pm #196463The NL does not have a lot of guys with the Three Crowns, but two are Cardinals.
The AL had back-to-back years on 1966 and ‘67 – the days of my youth and passion for baseball.
Then Miggy did it some 10 years ago. But for the NL you have to go back some 85 years.
August 20, 2022 at 2:18 pm #196465Yep, a Cincinnati cast-off and then Yaz who proceeded to extend his TC bat to the ’67 WS and touch up Redbird pitchers to the tune of a .400 BA.
