Bling…I didn’t assume as much. I’m in total agreement that he K’s too much and can only hope he makes more contact and progresses as he gets more looks. I also agree that his role in ’22 is as a platoon guy. But at barely(I’d sure trade places with him) 22 years of age, I think he’s got a decent chance to improve at the Big League level and someday soon be in the lineup for plenty of games. I don’t really follow the Redbird affiliates much at all, so my first look at him was with the Big League ballclub. Heck, I’m certain you know more about him than I do, but I’ve seen enough of him to conclude that he has an enormous amount of power potential.
Well since pujols lately has been swinging the bat better than most on the team against whoever, I’ll take him in there. I agree it comes down to chances and I don’t think he will at this point. But he’s got the kind of swing that can generate lots of homers in a hurry even now and that’s regardless of what arm they are using to throw the ball. If he can hit three more before end of August, never say never. We face pirates a few more times. That’s not much more than batting practice.

Certainly you *could* help, but you choose not to. A fair view would be that he’s done this at literally every single level and it could signal an impressive run coming. It’s not guaranteed and it would be unfair to assume otherwise. Likewise, you admit that he’s doing “pretty well” as a 22 year old in his first taste of big league ball. As Brian showed, few rookies are doing better.
The K rate will come down. If he continues to barrel the ball like he has been with a 25% K rate, he’s a perennial All Star. As we’ve seen with TON, that can be a big step. Unlike O’Neill, Gorman has shown he can cut the Ks before. And unlike Carlson, he has usable power…Dylan hits the ball with the authority of a backup shortstop for the most part.
I can’t ever recall closing out the regular season with 6 games against the same ballclub, but that’s just what we get this season with the final 6 vs. the Pirates. Seems odd to me. Oh well, the older I get the more I’m convinced I’ve passed through a portal to an alternate universe. Maybe I’m Bill Lee?
The last I heard the plan was to skip Hudson’s rotation turn rather than give everyone an extra day rest. Do we know if that is definite yet?
Cherry picking Gormans flaws, BA, K%, platoon role, is just as guilty as pointing out his plus skills.
Unless you want Edman benched permanently, Gorman will be in a platoon role, because it’s best for the team.

I suspect that with the struggling veteran relievers and Bader now gone, some are scrambling to find a new whipping boy on the roster. Maybe, just maybe, there isn’t one right now. Wouldn’t that be a good thing?

It’s because of the lockout. The Cards were scheduled to finish with the Pirates and they lost their first two series with them thanks to the lockout. The first two series were against the Pirates and Cubs…the Pirates games were tacked onto the end of the season while the Cubs games became doubleheaders.

It’s always nice to make a little money while you sleep. Redbirds increased their lead in the NLC to 2 full games after a Brewer 4-0 loss to the Dodgers last night. Brewers also fall to 2 full games off the pace for a WC berth. With 3 more games remaining with the Dodgers this week, I’m wondering if Milwaukee fans may be experiencing the first symptoms of panic.
I was asked on a radio appearance (in Des Moines) today if the Brewers are “out of it”. I said, “no”, but the trade deadline really hurt them as it helped the Cardinals and the longer that impact continues, the worse for Milwaukee.
Here’s a really important bit of information regarding the Dodgers and Milwaukee game last night – Front Row Amy was in attendance and looking quite healthy. Let’s hope she is there the next two nights so we can flip channels between innings and keep an eye on her.
Din-din today was a center cut rib chop in the air fryer, along with some Aces High sweet corn, a Pepsi, and some freshly made homemade ice cream with a new recipe I got off of YouTube.
And me and Whitey Herdog will be tuning in tonight, sitting on the couch together. I am sure we will enjoy at least two 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars during the game. And perhaps a 3rd one if we decide to stay up and finish watching the late game from San Francisco.

Seems like the thin air the last time we played them affected the spin on our pitches.Wainos curve wouldn’t bite up there in the mountains. Demand still all over the line up. Marmol did say a couple weeks ago he’s had to use him so much he’s afraid of wearing him out. He’s definitely a keeper. Goldy and Nado need to crank up again. Get some steam up down the home stretch.
Din-din is Tacos Tuesday with extra chips and some refried beans and queso dip. Keeps me regular.

I did my part by rolling out the leftover meatballs and Bolognaise sauce from the freezer, cooked up some carrots in butter and onions, threw in a couple hands full of macaroni to soak up the sauce. That’s sure to be inspirational!
BW…Yeah, it’s a little astonishing that the same franchise that traded for Sabathia in July of’08 seems to have taken such a PR hit this season. I also feel it’s a bit worth noting that the hopes of Milwaukee fans during the 2 most successful seasons in Brewer franchise history were ultimately dashed in ’82 and ’11 by none other than the StL. Cardinals. If I were a Brewer fan, I certainly wouldn’t be too fond of the Redbirds.
Donovan’s playing time has really dried up since Dejong returned and Noot has been starting almost everyday.
Din din is chicken korma. Tomato cucumber salad from the garden.
Noot’s production any stock has gone up with his playing time. I like his game. He does some of those little things that accumulate to give a club an edge.
Seems like we should see O’Neill crack two over the wall in a game here soon.
Think we have a Mexican casserole on tap for din-din. The wifey put one together yesterday and I am pretty sure that will be the meal, but am not home yet so cannot say for certain. But we quite often do a “Taco Tuesday” type din-din.
Speaking of the second slot in the lineup, which our good buddy GC lobbies his favorite guy Tommy E for that place. O’Neill is one of my favorite Cardinals, and he is in the two spot tonight. But I cannot say he deserves to be there. He has reverted back to his old habit of too many Ks. Hope he gets untracked because as I said, I like the guy, and he was our best player last year. Reminds me somewhat of a mini-Mick (Mantle that is – great power and speed, not too mention he seems to be injured a lot like Mick was).
Oh, I almost forgot…Din-din? Pan fried pork chops with rice & gravy and green beans. After several weeks of dental procedures and healing, it’s ohhh so nice to once again be a genuine carnivore. Hopefully Freeland will serve up plenty of meat and Redbird hitters will pounce and put some teeth into it.
