bling, Carlson has been in the leadoff spot for 12 games, prior to tonight. His OBP was .417 in the first 7 games he batted leadoff. Then he was 4 for 17 in his next 4 games for an OBP of .235 before an OBP of .400 in last night’s game. Carlson only hits leadoff against RH pitchers.

The alternative, Tommy Edman, is getting on base at a .295 clip as the leadoff hitter vs. RH pitchers.

2-0 Birds on the Arenado round-tripper with Goldy onboard. I for one can’t wait to exit Frisco. This renewed rejuvenated Cardinal squad needs to be challenged. And I don’t think we’ll find it here beneath the Golden Gate bridge.

I wonder how long it has been since both the Cardinals and Cubs spent some time in first place, albeit first place in a division in these modern times, and then both clubs crashed and burned? Maybe there was a year in the ‘30s, when both teams were often good, but also had poor seasons.

The win last night and early lead tonight is not fooling me. Although we are a tad better with Waino on the hill. But this is a mediocre club. I look for a 6-2 final, in favor of the Bay City Bombers. Then we have the “Crummy Bowl” coming up, with us and the Cubs battling to see who can at least have something to brag about by beating the other sorry outfit.

Din-din for us was chicken enchiladas. We often do Mexican on Tuesday nights; it’s our “Taco Tuesday” tradition.

Well Carlson struggling again tonight. But we are up two here. Maybe goldy can get it started again.

Well bader got us going but Dejong just put us cold again. We need a hit here, sosa beats out a infield hit. What does waino do here.

I don’t know if I just give up an out there. I think maybe trying to steal second would have been a better move, let waino swing with one out. Carlson has struggled tonight.

I think bunting the guy to second and have your leadoff hit with two outs is the analytical play but I don’t think it’s the right play with a speedy sosa at first and bader at third. But maybe the analytics will work out here.

De la chicky enchiladas es la bueno El din-din, senor MiguelBicycale.

Goldy plates a deuce with a two out single to put the Good Guys right back up to their 2 run advantage as we mozzy along to the bottom of the 4th.

There goes Pugs, posting in French, presumably to impress CIF.

Edman just made a diving catch in RF to keep the Cards in front 4-3 after 5 innings. Adam’s pitch count is high and certainly can’t go much longer.

Why is Rondon pinch hitting with no one on, and 2 out?I’d have just let Wainright bat. Schmidt truly puzzles me sometimes.

It is time to have the extra orange bag at first base. There are too many collisions at first base and quite a few could be avoided with the extra bag. We almost had injuries on back-to-back plays at first.

I don’t know whose issue that was in center. Bader should have called Dejong off but I don’t know if he did but Dejong chose to ignore or what but someone has to catch that ball. Dejong just seems off on everything.

Miller came in and was his normal horrible self. But we got out of it. A little luck though, Carlson almost didn’t take the right line on that line drive.

forsch, while we’re at it, put an extra orange bag at 3B too. Arenado nearly got cleated on the force out after DeJong whiffed on the pop up. DeJong should’ve yielded to Bader on that play, who I think could’ve caught the pop much more easily.

I don’t think we need orange bases or any of that nonsense. Having a runner at second in extras is silly enough. Brebbia coming in for giants. I wish he was still cardinal. One of my favorite cardinal relief pitchers.

I think I’ve got a 6th sense about Miller’s wildness. When he’s got two strikes and should be poised to log a K against a right handed batter, he seems to love slinging a wild slider inside and nail the batter on the shin or ankles. That’s what he just did to Ruf.

What do you know? This team can play fundamental small ball.

It’s nice to see Helsley doing better. We need him to be good. Again, if I was the Cards, I’d trade for a reliever instead of dumpster diving for free agents. It wouldn’t cost much.

I hope they start Sosa over Dejong tomorrow. Give him regular days off.

And on cue, Sosa homers after my comment. Wow!! Big insurance run.

Another horrible night for Dejong. That’s a pitch from brebbia you have to at least be thinking about with 2 strikes, just foul it off. To me sosa needs more playing time and Dejong is the most struggling player. As I said that, sosa makes my case even more. Of course it would help if oneil would stay in the lineup.

Hey cardinal27, we were thinking alike.
