November 18, 2021 at 6:44 am #176957So it appears that whoever wins Friday’s game will win the division and play in the AFL championship.
November 18, 2021 at 7:44 am #176962Yepez has a very good case for MVP. I hope the AFL results are more meaningful than winter leagues.
November 18, 2021 at 8:06 am #176969It looks like the Cards and Cubs each have a young slugger that might be dueling each other at Busch and Wrigley for the next several years.
November 19, 2021 at 8:02 am #177029Velazquez should definitely take home the MVP over Yepez. His OPS is over 100 points higher. Yepez is MLB-ready right now though, while Velaquez should be in the minors for all of next year.
We’ve had Nootbaar – 1.080, Yepez – 1.030 OPS, and Donovan – 1.013 OPS on the hitting side
and
Pallante 1.29 ERA, 9.4 K/9 rate, Thompson – 1.56 ERA, 11.4 K/9 rate.
It’s too bad Gorman (1.190 OPS in limited time too) and Hicks had to leave.
November 19, 2021 at 10:02 am #177047If Glendale wins this afternoon at Surprise, they will be the AFL West Division champion and play in the League Championship Game Saturday. LAD RHP Landon Knack (1-0, 3.68) (2nd round 2020) takes the ball for the Desert Dogs today. pic.twitter.com/PrKxxuus5a

November 19, 2021 at 10:07 am #177049The Desert Dogs skipper would be wise to throw development aside and plan on as many Cardinal prospects as possible in the lineup and pitching staff the next couple of days. It’s the sure way to win.

ParticipantDesert Dogs lost today, 5-3. Shoot. That ends their AFL season. Donovan went 0-4 leading off, and struck out twice. Ouch. Yepez went 2 for 4 in the 3 hole. Walsh got the man he faced in the 6th.
November 19, 2021 at 10:46 pm #177092Haven’t seen Nootbar in the last few games. Is he hurt?
November 20, 2021 at 11:37 am #177118In our final @MLBazFallLeague game recap, Glendale lost its chance to win the division and play in the title game. #stlcards prospect Juan Yepez finished his strong showing with two hits and a run scored. (free) https://t.co/ifjc6FhCzO pic.twitter.com/eif57JByOt

November 20, 2021 at 11:37 am #177119Nootbaar did not play after the Fall Stars Game last weekend. I've seen no report of any injury, but I am not there any more and news is sparse. Maybe he was just done at that point. It was definitely a successful fall for him.

November 20, 2021 at 11:10 pm #177156Hi Brian,
Just wondering if you know why Surprise got the nod over Peoria to go to the Championship Game? Peoria looked like the much better team at the time and split the season series with Surprise. I saw a post that said officials were huddled together to figure out what to do!
November 21, 2021 at 7:53 am #177160lrcardinal, I do not know.
I have been going to the @MLBazFallLeague for the better part of two decades. While the #stlcards had a number of offensive leaders over the years, I do not recall a time when the team had such strong performers from top to bottom as 2021. November 23, 2021 at 11:29 am #177287Three #STLCards players headline the 2021 All-AFL Team, the most of any MLB team. 🙌
Congratulations to Juan Yepez, Lars Nootbaar & Andre Pallante on a great Fall League season. https://t.co/8b62NIj6IY
