Remember there are 14 innings to cover tomorrow… and your starters are Kim straight off the IL and Ponce, not known for going more than four or five at most.
bccran, I’ve never seen Sosa play anywhere other than the infield, but what has been happening in Springfield this summer is anyone’s guess.
The Cards’ perfect record when scoring 5 runs or more may be in jeopardy today. Gotta keep the offense going.
This is why in my mind, you cant just keep cycling through pitchers. Reyes should have been left in there to get through the inning. Managing like every game is a playoff game isnt good.

How many pitchers are going to wind up on the IL before all of this is said and done? The pitching staff is majorly screwed losing Gant and Gallegos this week.
The #stlcards currently have eight pitchers on the IL, four of whom are out for the season. Kim comes off tomorrow, but will Gant go on?

Sure would be nice to have the runs wasted on the missed ball in the OF earlier. Looking like the Cards will have to outslug the Reds if their perfect record adoring 5+ is going to continue. Miller has been awful since coming in.
So our current closer is arguably Miller, who is issuing free passes, a wild pitch and loud outs. I guess “depth” was a nice term while it lasted.

I should have also noted that before this, someone would have needed to be sent down to make room for Kim (and Ponce) tomorrow. Instead it could be Gant going to the IL and the pen would have one fewer arm heading into a very, busy stretch. Not good no matter now one looks at it.

Twitter rumor is it might be his groin which begs the question what the hell is happening with the pitchers throwing out their groins.

This team is screwed. Better hope that the starters can somehow go 6 innings in all the DH games coming up or the offense is going to need to score 8+ runs every game.

Here is another possible scenario. Replace Dean with a pitcher and go with 16 arms (17 for DH) and just 12 position players. What do folks think of this idea, recognizing that nine of the 12 position players have to play in every game?
