    O’Neill strikes out.

Carlson laces one up the middle that would have been a hit in the good old days. But the shift got him.

    I hate the shift.

If baseball wants to stress offensive production that makes the game entertaining, abolishing the shift would be much more effective than juicing the ball, promoting exit velocity, launch angles, etc.

Without looking, yeah, Max played with the Giants and the Redlegs….and I’m sure a few others. He couldn’t hit a lick, but he sure could stick…..several seasons I do believe, Supreme Leader.

Flaherty gives Rizzo a little reminder that he’s not gonna give up the plate. Dejong with a nice play on the ball by Baez, and Wong with the uncomfortable looking stretch.

Heyward is like the anti-Rizzo. He is almost standing on the grass, it looks like. He’s also fouling off everything thrown his way. He singles and it’s runners at the corners.

I find myself now wanting to say the word “Venable” right after saying the word “will”. Let’s ALL do that for the entire long weekend. Any and every time you say the word “will”, immediately follow it up with “Venable”. Your family might think you’re going nuts, but what the heck.

You’re amongst friends, Supreme Leader. We may not be the most exciting bunch, but we all do have a pulse……except maybe not Ratsbuddy for long if he keeps eating 6 hot dogs and 2 cream pies a day.

Nothing going Jack’s way tonight. That’s it for him.

Tbh, the chances of coming back on Darvish are extremely low. I’d consider leaving Woodford out there as a sacrificial lamb and using the low priority bullpen guys as much as possible. Are there rules for when position players can pitch? Might as well save the pen for the upcoming mess of a schedule.

No restrictions, but Max Schrock is in Springfield!

Welcome, Supreme Leader. Can you pitch a few innings tonight?

He had a no-no brewing a couple of weeks ago vs Milwaukee in this very ballpark, Stlcard25. I think it was intact until the 7th inning. We’ll get to this guy yet….dude is good, but not this good.

Bryant comes THIS close to airmailing many of his throws to 1st. We could use a few of those as Darvish sure isn’t giving us much.

The Cubs are intent on getting all the batted ball luck that the Cards pitchers have been holding onto for the season so far. Everything seems to be finding just the spot.

Maybin reminds me some of Curtis Granderson.

Dejong and Carlson blow an easy pop up. Thankfully, Dylan was smart enough to make the throw to 2nd for the force out.

Wow, a hitter stands no chance of getting a hit these days if he whacks it up the middle.

“ Will Venable? The only Venable I know is “Max”

Max is Dad, Will is son. Will has been in the majors since 2008, but spent most of that time in San Diego, which means he was fairly unknown.

Thanks Brian….oh my that pitch to Miller looked a bit out of the zone. Darvish will get his Perfecto with calls like that
