April 8, 2018 at 2:19 pm #47934Weaver does his best Houdini impersonation by whiffing Goldschmidt with a runner on 3rd with only 1 out and then inducing the inning ending flyout to right. You had to love that 3-2 hook Weaver threw Goldschmidt…
though the Snack 1st baseman was able to foul it off. Weaver seems wise and confident beyond his years on this planet.April 8, 2018 at 2:23 pm #47935Oops. After watching the replay again, Molina shoved the ump. Suspension seems likely. Will Kelly be called up or will they soon discover they accidentally left Pena in New York and bring him back? 😉

April 8, 2018 at 2:23 pm #47936With Fowler and Carpenter both struggling early in the season (AGAIN), is it time to flip them in the order?
April 8, 2018 at 2:27 pm #47937The Cardinals have the same starting outfield for 1st 9 games of the season for 1st time since 1983 (Lonnie Smith, George Hendrick, David Green)

April 8, 2018 at 2:33 pm #47939Love that Torey Lovullo yells about Yadi and then when confronted raise he’s hands like he is all innocent!
April 8, 2018 at 2:34 pm #47940Thru 5 frames Weaver has been very stingy……0 runs, 2 hits, 1 walk, 7 K’s…..on 73 pitches.

Participantif “struggling” means results…. BAbip can be pretty brutal in small samples like this.
not my batting order of choice, but no, on juggling the order.April 8, 2018 at 2:39 pm #47942I’m not 100% sure that a suspension is in Yadi’s future, Brian. I say that only because he didn’t even get tossed in the game. The ump he bumped must have thought the contact was accidental. Will be interesting to find out.

ParticipantWong came through
April 8, 2018 at 2:42 pm #47945Wow! Wong registers his second hit of 2018…..and Yadi comes waltzing in with the game’s first tally!
April 8, 2018 at 2:45 pm #47946Was there any doubt that Molina would score the first run?
This is from an Arizona beat reporter. There is also some history between the two, if the comments following are accurate. Sorry for the foul language, but it is relevant.
It appears that the field mics caught Lovullo referencing to Molina as "this motherfucker," and I can see why that would set Molina off.

April 8, 2018 at 2:48 pm #47947Hmmmm……on average I get called that name 3-4 times a day and it doesn’t set me afire like it did Yadi.
April 8, 2018 at 2:54 pm #47948Is it just me or does Carpenter seem to be making some awkward, herky-jerky throws to first?
April 8, 2018 at 2:59 pm #47949If I’m Matheny. I start loosening up an arm just in case. I feel this is a critical early season series that shows the makeup of this team.

Participantalright, gonna let him start the 7th.
April 8, 2018 at 2:59 pm #47951I’m not sure that Yadi bumped the umpire. They made contact, but that was because the ump was being aggressive in trying to hold Yadi back. That’s all.
April 8, 2018 at 3:00 pm #47952It’s not just you, CardinalInFrance. His entire game looks off to me. As much as I like him, I wouldn’t be adverse to him riding the pines for a few games to contemplate things.
April 8, 2018 at 3:00 pm #47953He’s had to adjust his arm angle due to his back ailment.

Participantwith a little help from my friends!
April 8, 2018 at 3:04 pm #47956It sure looks from the video like Molina shoved the umpire out of the way after being grabbed.
What if it turns out that Lovello told Molina he looks tired? 😉
P.S. I am glad the ump took aggressive action, or it could have been a lot worse. Is there any doubt that Molina would have punched Lovullo had he been able to reach him? I wouldn’t have blamed him if the words were said. But it would have been a long suspension then.
April 8, 2018 at 3:04 pm #47957Carpenter now making a very nice play at 3rd….doesn’t it always happen….. Say something obtuse about a guy and he comes right back to prove you wrong.
I’m with Mudville…. after seeing the tape again I don’t think Yadi bumped the ump….matter of fact it almost looked like that ump whacked Yadi’s mask off.
April 8, 2018 at 3:06 pm #47958Do we possibly see the ump draw a 3 game suspension for whacking Yadi’s mask off???
April 8, 2018 at 3:06 pm #47959MArtinez lol!
Who knows? HE may have airmailed it anywho.
