mud, it would seem a bad idea to have the same focus every year.
June 6, 2018 at 12:44 pm #55512So BWcard and myself are over at CardsTalk doing the live draft. 2 things stand out right now: Cardinals really trust their Carolinas scouts and they are going on huge pitching binge to start Day 3. 7 of the 8 picks have been pitchers.
June 6, 2018 at 1:18 pm #55523With 10 of 30 rounds of Day 3 of MLB Draft done, The Cardinal Nation has commentary, photos and videos of all 10 #stlcards picks loaded. All 10 are college underclassmen. 8 are pitchers. https://t.co/TcdjB7EEBT pic.twitter.com/0VWFnvjQs4

ParticipantTroy Montemayor RHP rd.25, drafted by the Cards on his 22nd birthday…. nice present.
June 6, 2018 at 4:03 pm #55574Did the Cards try go corner the mkt on 4th year juniors?
June 6, 2018 at 6:43 pm #55621Seven hours of MLB Draft 3 today. #stlcards made 30 picks. The Cardinal Nation has commentary and photos for all 30 plus video for most. Check it out. https://t.co/TcdjB7EEBT pic.twitter.com/LL6YX9TYaS

June 6, 2018 at 7:26 pm #55631When the Cardinals took Gorman in the first and Baker in the third, I thought they were going to go hard after power hitters. Then, they didn’t draft any more, unless you count Woodall, Jr.
When they took Gingery, I was hoping they would also grab Tyler Holton out of FSU. Holton had 144 strikeouts in 119 innings last year to Gingery’s 107 in 91.1 innings…
Nick Dunn was the second highest rated 2B on many sites. I still would have preferred Kody Clemens’ bat.
Kevin Vargas, we should be able to sign, since he is from Peurto Rico. He was ranked about a 4th round prospect on a few sites.
Jaden Hill – it would be awesome if we could somehow sign him, but my guess is it will take way more than the Cardinals have available. He probably wants 2nd round money to sign.
June 6, 2018 at 11:23 pm #55706Nice to see the short writeups on each draftee but who makes the end comments on each draftee and who decides what to base those comments on? Personal observations or quick glance at stats ? Sure doesn`t seem like draft positions matter because some very late draft picks are really liked by whoever makes the end semi evals while other draftees are pretty much dismissed as filler or longshots to sniff the big leagues.

After the first few rounds, all bets are off in terms of where people are drafted relative to rankings
June 6, 2018 at 11:42 pm #55708I was asking about the basis for the early evals on some draftees high or low or pretty much dismissed.
June 7, 2018 at 12:37 am #55710Luke Heimlich didn’t get drafted again.
I’ll bet he ends up in Japan or Korea. He clearly will never play here.
June 7, 2018 at 6:10 am #55712From everything i have read on Hill there is close to a Zero percent chance he signs with the Cards he is pretty much 100% going to LSU
June 7, 2018 at 6:12 am #55713I am torn on the Luke Heimlich not getting drafted, he says he was pretty much told to do it by his parents so it would go away and he has passed 2 lie detector tests saying he really did not do what he was accused of and as many drunks druggies and cheaters that play in the MLB kind is bad spot for MLB.
June 8, 2018 at 8:12 am #55808I don’t often tout my subscriber articles here on the free board, but I am especially proud of this one – my annual draft analysis. I also introduce it on my Danny Mac podcast today. I hope those who choose to subscribe enjoy it!
June 8, 2018 at 11:49 am #55836Nice article.I am looking forward to see how some of the draftees perform as Pro players.I think Cards have a few sleepers who can surprise people (Brendan Donovan ,Kevin Woodall).Donovan has just hit every year and has played 3B-OF.I am rooting for Woodall since he was basically dismissed in the
post draft evals by Shore and the other guy.June 8, 2018 at 5:57 pm #55870For those who are into these things…
June 9, 2018 at 12:30 pm #55933The Cardinal Nation's Roster Matrix – with all #stlcards and minors rosters by position and level plus every transaction – now includes the 41 new draftees. https://t.co/6uuvjYXSmD Draftees also have their own roster page. https://t.co/9uyDZDeyE6 pic.twitter.com/bTq2hsiIEk

June 11, 2018 at 12:44 pm #56127Is there gonna be a new thread for draft signings, or do we just post the news here? Anyway, I’ve created a spreadsheet if anyone is interested. I think a few guys here already know about it.
Nick Dunn, Matthew Duce and Griffin Roberts have signed. I’ve only seen numbers for Roberts and its for the full amount.
June 11, 2018 at 12:54 pm #56128thanks BHC.Hope this breaks the ice and more sign soon.
