Taking a gander at the 4th of July (Thursday) out-of-town scoreboard:

The Reds completed the three game sweep of the Yankees in New York. 8-4 the final.

The Cubs avoid the three game sweep with a 10-2 thrashing of the Phillies at Wrigley Field.

The Pirates lost to the Cardinals in a barnburner at Forbes Field. 3-2 St. Louis the final in 10 innings.

And the Brewers are just getting underway out in Colorado for the final game of the four game set at Mile High Stadium.

    Scoreboard Update:

The Rockies lead the Brewers 3-0 in the 3rd in Denver. Charlie Blackmon has been right in the middle of the three runs they scored.

Charlie can and always could hit. Let’s hope he keeps it up against MIL tonight.

4 lefties in a row for Washington? That will be quite tough in our LH batters.

At least we get to watch James Wood in his debut week. The kid has electric potential although we will see if he lives up to it.

The Rockies hang on to defeat the Brewers for a 4-3 final. Like Rats mentioned, Blackmon had 2 RBI’s and a run scored. I looked at the box and saw that MIL commited 2 E’s and that only 3 of COL’s 4 runs were earned, so apparently the Brewers were made to pay for the oven mitts…Cardinals now 6 games off the pace at the end of today’s action in the NLC.

    And on another good note…..

The Brewers now head to Los Angels for a three game series with the Doyers at Doyer Stadium. The Doyers haven’t played well as of late so let’s hope they turn it around this weekend. Maybe we can pick up a couple of games over the weekend.

It would be nice to leave Washington 5 games over 500. I suggest DH Contreras and play Pedro and Carlson each day. And maybe nicely ask Goldy and Arenado to get some hits with men on base.

    NO FERMIN

We probably need a No Fermin thread.

I never like to see a player squander a chance to prove he can produce in the Big Leagues, but Fermin hasn’t contributed much at all during his opportunity this season in StL. I fully expect him to be shipped out soon, but hopefully for him he’ll do better if he’s afforded another chance.

With a 4 game series and the team currently 4 games over .500, I believe that the Cards will either be even .500, 2 games above, 4 games above, 6 games above or 8 games above.

It seems like it was only yesterday that lefties were primed for a beat down against this lineup (.798 team OPS in 2021, .809 in 2022, then to .718 last year and .614 this year). Shows how quickly times have changed.

I really am good at math. Guess i bobbled that. I want to win 3/4. I was thinking the same thing about how we used to put a beating on lefties. Really i was.

I suppose it’s possible that a game gets rained out. Haha

Din-din today was a Double Cheeseburger, French Fries, a Chocolate Shake, Cherry Delight, and a ice cold slushy Mt. Dew. Later tonight after jogging me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for first pitch. Along with a couple of 7 1/2 x 50 Cuban Sandwich Especiales cigars.

Then later tonight a 6×50 Palma Real Toro cigar whilst we watch the Brewers and the Doyers from Doyer Stadium. And then real late tonight another Palma Real Toro while we watch an episode of Dragnet with Joe Friday.

So……was it CCFF for anyone today? Pugs?

I hadn’t realized until yesterday that this was a 4 game set in DC. It’s odd to extend over to a 4th game on a Monday. I’m guessing it’s scheduled as such because of the new interleague format. In any case, I was surprised to see a game with the Nats on the schedule for Monday. Strange days…Haha!

In case anyone needs cheering up, I will mention that our cleanup hitter has a BA wRISP of .173.

That sounds like the sort of thing one encounters a week or two into the season when your slugger is off to a slow start, but we are past the half way mark.

For context, Siani .149 wRISP would be a worse choice, but not as bad as Gorman .143 wRISP.

Hopefully you just put the reverse jinx on Goldy Bling. I think Carlson is going to bust out all over the place if they play him all 4 games as they should. IMO Oli has this lineup right for tonight. Just turn it in 3 more times after tonight. Thats 5, right?😄😄😄

They’re .226 as a team. That’s horrible, but not as bad as I would have guessed.

Two pathetic at bats by Goldy and Arenado. Off with their heads. Or move them to the bottom of the order.

Who do I least want batting with runners in scoring position?

    1) Fermin
    2) Goldschmidt
    3) Gorman
    4) Arenado
    5) Siani

Is that not sad? I guess technically Lance Lynn might be #1. But pitchers aside . . .

Should have a decent chance to climb to 5 above sea level with Gray taking his turn this evening. Then we can shoot for 10…

I think if Lance loaded up on Bavarian Bismarks before standing in, he’d have a decent chance to walk into one…Haha!

Looking at our players with 20 or more plate appearances with runners in scoring position, Goldschmidt is 2nd worst on the team. WRC+ of 52. Siani is last.

I would slot Doris Murphy in between Gorman and Arenado.
