I did a little research and as of early April some projections for Cards wins were:
Fangraphs 82.7
PECOTA 80.1
Caesars 85.5
ESPN 81As of now we have 69 wins with 42 games left. If we go 12-30 ESPN will be right.
Right TD, when it comes to predicting the future, your chances are better if you wait until it happens.
The Scrubs have been playing pretty good baseball lately and you know they always get up for the Cards. We will have our hands full the next five games. I will take a 3-2 series win and be glad to get of town.

We’ve got our top 3 starters lined up to kick it off. Pretty awesome to have won the last two with the bottom of the rotation going, but it wore down the pen.
I think it was BW said Yadi is expected back Monday.

I would never be happy losing a game or series vs the losers from Chicago. I usually dont even watch the games but being they have a lefty going tomorrow, Albert will probably play. So I will break with my tradition.
Watch Gorman in this series. He’s going to be dynamite. I think the smart money would have St. Louis taking 3 of the 5 games in this series. I’d love to get 4 though. No team is ever taking 5 out of 5 in this series between these two teams. 3-3 of course had occurred several times, but when was the last time a team swept all 4 games in this contentious Cards-Cubs series? I bet it’s been over 20 years.
Pugs, you’re forgetting the Cards 4-game sweep in the next to last week of 2019 at Wrigley. Cards were in a battle with cubs and brewers for the playoff spots. All four games were 1-run wins. The iconic game and sequence is where Yadi and DeJong went back to back on Kimbrel in the 9th inning of game 3. It couldn’t have been any more brutal for the cubbies if Ratsbuddy had literally dunked Kimbrel’s head in a boiling pot of hot grease like he does to those catfish fiddlers when he cooks a batch of them.

The Cards swept the Cubs last September for four in Wrigley during the 17 game win streak as well. That series followed a 4 game sweep at Milwaukee.

Great reminders on the Cardinal 4 game sweeps vs the Cubbies, Euro and Stlcard25……thank you. This is never going to happen, but what if Chicago royally spanked us and took all 5 games……and The Crew swept the Dodgers in LA? Wonder what the odds are on that occuring? Has to be close to a million to one.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. We have come full circle with Cardinal ball clubs. As a kid back in the ’60s, our club was usually pretty good, while the Cubs were bad. Our club featured the corner infielders as the big guns on offense, Red Jacket members Bill White and Ken Boyer back in the day. Both could pick it on defense as well.
Sounds kind of like this club, and this series. This club also is looking like a lot of Cardinal teams throughout history where it seems we plod along for half a season trying to figure out if we are a good team, or a mediocre one. Then we get to August and the roster gets cleaned up and settled and the team plays up to their potential.
I think we can get 3 in this series, and would love to take four. But the Cubs have been playing quite a lot better as well and gave the Crew a tough time.
After this week, where we have it sort of easy, although 5 game sin 4 days negates some of that, the tables turn. We get Atlanta and the Brewers get the Cubs again.
In light of the spectacular season Goldschmidt’s putting together to compliment his already impressive career, and the very real possibility of Wainwright’s return in ’23 to pursue 200 W’s to go along with his outstanding .631 career W/L pct. the thought occured to me this morning that we may very well be enjoying a ’22 edition of the Cardinals that feature no less than 5 future baseball HOF inductees. I’m reasonably certain no Redbird ballclub from the past can boast of that many. I’d say Pujols and Molina are a foregone conclusion, Arenado’s close to being the same, and both Wainwright and Goldschmidt currently have an appreciably better than outside chance. At any rate, we’re certainly fortunate to be witnessing an abundance of historically timeless talent taking to the field in a Redbird uniform ’22. Today is unquestionably an ideal day to be a Cardinal fan.

A little addendum to a previous comment…Best I can tell, the ’34 edition of the Cardinals featured 5 HOF’ers consisting of Frisch, Medwick, Dean, Haines and Grimes. Durocher was also part of that ballclub, but he don’t count as he was inducted as a Mgr. The ’26 edition also featured 5 HOF’ers consisting of Hornsby, Bottomley, Hafey, Alexander and Haines. Southworth was also a member of that ballclub, but he don’t count either as he was also inducted as a Mgr. Finally, a couple of Redbird rosters of the 40’s featured 4 HOF’ers and I’ll include those as honorable mention simply because I feel that if Phil Rizzuto and Pee Wee Reese are HOF’ers, Marty Marion should be right there with them.
I unfortunately won’t be going to the game tonight, but have tickets for tomorrow afternoon and Thursday afternoon. Both against RHP…
Good information on the Hall of Famers, 1TD. Our latter day club in ’67 had five as well, but only four as players – Brock, Gibson, Cepeda, and Carlton. Then Red is there, but of course he was the manager in ’67.
Roger Maris gets occasional mention as an HOF inductee, but to date has not be enshrined.
Depending on how some guys careers play out, you wonder if someday there may be other HOFers on this 2022 club. Can Gorman put together a possible Hall of Fame career? How about someone like Jack Flaherty. Could this be a down season where he comes back and puts together a bit of a Koufax type run of seasons?
