Sources: Dexter Fowler traded to Angels
— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) February 5, 2021
Cards get player to be named back in Fowler trade, so this looks like a salary dump. Fowler reunites with Joe Maddon.

February 4, 2021 at 9:33 pm #153431Formal announcement.
OFFICIAL: The #Angels have acquired OF Dexter Fowler and cash considerations from the St. Louis Cardinals.
Welcome to the Halos, @DexterFowler! 🙌 pic.twitter.com/BdcYTW8a0N

ParticipantSpeechless. Now we have to get an outfielder.
February 4, 2021 at 9:42 pm #153439Cardinals are paying a majority of Fowler’s salary, so not much savings…really just clearing roster space
February 4, 2021 at 9:43 pm #153440Your outfielders are O’Neill, Bader and Carlson.
February 4, 2021 at 9:44 pm #153442Evidently, Angels reached out after the Arenado trade. The Arenado trade just keeps getting better.
February 4, 2021 at 9:45 pm #153443I don’t know what happened, but BHC and I posted this, and somehow I deleted both of them. Sorry…
It was fun while it lasted. https://t.co/1vAGPsHjeN

February 4, 2021 at 9:46 pm #153444The #Angels were looking for a corner outfielder all winter, and talks heated up with the #STLCards after the Nolan Arenado trade.

February 4, 2021 at 9:46 pm #153445Lol its cool Brian. I only commented that the Cardinals post was only from 5 hours ago.
February 4, 2021 at 9:46 pm #153446The #STLCards will pay the bulk of Dexter Fowler's $14 million contract and the #Angels will send a player to be named later or cash.

February 4, 2021 at 9:48 pm #153447Your outfielders are O’Neill, Bader and Carlson.
Don’t forget Edman. The Fowler trade also clears up a spot where Carp can now see time at 2B if there won’t be a DH this year.
February 4, 2021 at 9:49 pm #153448We don’t need to be forcing Carp into the lineup
February 4, 2021 at 9:57 pm #153449Any savings is magnified by the market. The winter of our discontent has suddenly turned to flurries of serendipity.
February 4, 2021 at 9:59 pm #153450Not really much of a salary dump.
The Cardinals are paying the Angels $12.75 million as part the deal for Dexter Fowler, so St. Louis is paying all but $1.75 million of Fowler's entire 2021 salary.

February 4, 2021 at 9:59 pm #153451The Arenado trade was the best news this off season but getting Fowler off the team is Heaven sent. What great news! Now, trade Bader next.
February 4, 2021 at 10:00 pm #153452Brian, you are absolutely spot on. They believe in O’Neil Bader, and Carlson, but this may have been about creating a path for Lane without having to release Justin Williams.
February 4, 2021 at 10:02 pm #153453After we sign Odorizzi, we can trade JF or CM to Boston for Benentendi. I’m guessing it will take JF (and maybe more).
February 4, 2021 at 10:03 pm #153454Bader has a floor of about 3 WAR per year
February 4, 2021 at 10:05 pm #153455The PTBNL will be He Who Shall Not Be Named at the deadline after the Angels are eliminated. He gets his farewell tour after all.
February 4, 2021 at 10:05 pm #153456The Cardinals have finally pivoted to full blown run prevention
February 4, 2021 at 10:08 pm #153457How about Flaherty and Bader for Benentendi?
February 4, 2021 at 10:12 pm #153458How about Flaherty and Bader for Benentendi?
No
February 4, 2021 at 10:27 pm #153459Are we all understanding Flaherty’s value right now? I could see Carlos, Ponce and cash going to Boston if we sign another starter.
