Marmol seemed hesitant to pull the trigger here. Why isn’t Yadi recognizing there is a problem with Helsley and making a mound visit or waving the trainer out? or Maddux? or Helsley? seems everyone dropped the ball on this one. After the single and the walk someone should have been doing something.
Lot’s of late inning/bullpen stuff here; Let’s talk about the offense that put us in ‘no margin of error’ territory. Nothing from Pujols, Molina, Goldschmidt. 0-11 and 0-3 w/ runners in scoring position. One extra base hit, the Yepez HR. No SB, no bunts, no moving runners, just swing away and wait for the HR. Goldschmidt is on a month long slump and Molina has hit nothing since his return. Mo needs to consider moving Goldy down the order (Edman, Donovan, Arenado, Pujols, Goldschmidt) and should have PH for Yadi in the ninth. Yes a Yadi HR would have been a great feel good moment but the odds of that happening is like Denver going for the 64 yd. FG. I would hate for Yadi’s last moment as a Card to be a K like that one today.
