Well I don’t know what anyone else is doing but I’m in to heavy drinking at this point.

    Salud!

I soothe my frustration by watching Don Rickles videos on Youtube. Much more entertaining than Cardinal baseball these days.

Eh, a few highballs in me and I really don’t care anymore.

Want to play Goldschmidt and Arenado in the OF? Why not?

I don’t touch the hard stuff, so I made myself a Sidecar. The orange liqueur should have been thrown away a couple years ago, but who cares, the cognac will kill the germs. Brian, your OF clarity article needs an update.

How about Goldy at 3B and Arenado at 1B one game? That might trick the batters into running to 3B instead of 1B on hits. Sipping Scotch for me though and I did that for the first time this season earlier this week. Doesn’t matter though because I can’t sip it fast enough to do much for me.

Rickles was the king of insults for sure. I can only take him in small to medium doses though. George Carlin is one I can waste an hour on watching him on YT. That guy cracks me up.

The FO appears to just be throwing darts at a board hoping something works. We’ve reached the moment in the season where thCards have jumped the shark.

A hilarious you tube clip is Foster Brookes roasting Rickles on the Dean Martin Celebrity Roast show.

Does roller coaster even fit as metaphor for O’Neill?

It’s broken and now we’re on the kiddie coaster or were told the tea cups had no line.

People bagging on the defense (it has been very pedestrian) likely can look to another of Manfreds changes as the shift is no longer in the infield and yes the OF defense has been a merry go round. Carlson in CF solves some of that but his bat is a real issue and LF will have it’s issues with whoever you put out there. They need to decide if they just say “screw it” and throw the hot bat out there. Not buying Contreras out there half the time the rest of the way. He’s played 39 games in his career out on the grass.

Team is throwing ish at at the wall and seeing if it sticks. It’s about as dysfunctional as I’ve seen this organization in a long time and it’s a reflection of whose pulling the strings and in the dugout.

They likely make a couple trades. They need to eat Matz contract and ship him somewhere along with about 2-3 others. Montgomery would fetch something but you basically throw it in completely if you do that. Can’t see a white flag being thrown up completely until the deadline and maybe a blood soaked one half torn one. Lol

I think acknowledging you made an $87M mistake one month into the contract says all you need to know about this front office. It is a clown show.

    Must be Marmol’s fault.

The same guys who got us the $87 M catcher who can’t catch will be getting us some help later on and this winter.

Noot saved us with that outfield assist at home to end the top of the 9th.

I’m convinced that there is no way to turn this season around.

This is a 70-75 win team unless they start fighting with each other then it’ll be a 100 loss team.

The roster is a disaster and there is nothing that can reasonably be done about it now.

One thing we have to do is find a catcher. Again.

If this doesn’t get Mo terminated I don’t know what will. Wow is all I can say about the total disfunction infecting this franchise.

Time for the local and national media to put the FO and ownership on full blast.

What do you do about a mistake that is not going away for 5 years?

Moving Contreras off catcher after 30 games is maybe the dumbest move they have ever made…just total nonsense…someone has to lose their job over that surely

This past off season was a total disaster

    1) again for like the 3rd year running they have no #1 or #2 pitcher and rely of Flaherty to be a #1 when he hasn’t done anything in several years and is injury prone….

    2) Contreras Signing ….that has long term ramifications that are not good if he is not at catcher

    3) pass on multiple shortstops…I guess waiting on Winn in 2024 or 25

    4) relying on O’Neil and Carlson again…not exactly consistent bats

    5) didn’t do jack to address the bullpen

The Contreras fiasco will have a lot of ramifications. Sure he can be a fine DH. He can swing the bat. The problem is that we didn’t give him $87M to be a DH. We have Gorman, Burleson, Yepez, and Walker who can do it for the league minimum.

Does this mean Gorman gets fewer AB’s? That isn’t good.

This clogs up the middle infield with Gorman, Donovan, Edman, and DeJong.

This clogs up the OF further if Contreras, not to mention he isn’t a good OF.

This means we now have an everyday catcher who can’t hit.200.

That $87M could have been spent on something else.

They just tried too hard at catcher, to the point where it looked like a panic decision that needed the self-discipline to tell themselves no.

Its not like Yadi had spoiled us with his bat either.

How do you have a serious conversation and they come away with, “Yep, this is what we are going to do.”

It’s bizarre to say the least.
