The Cards are still in last place. The last time we were not in last place was a year ago.
April 6, 2024 at 6:54 pm #246877But we are over .500 for the first time since being 2-1 to start last year…
April 6, 2024 at 6:58 pm #246878How bad are the Marlins. Oof, 0-9.
You can only win the games in front of you and they’ve done well to be a game over .500 through nine played. How about Walker? Kid had himself a good day and Matz pitched well again. Hopefully he can stay healthy.and forgot to mention Herrera. He played well again.
April 6, 2024 at 7:08 pm #246880Yep, the Reds scored 5 runs in the 8th to come from behind and defeat the Mets 9-6, while the Pirates win 5-4 over the O’s in 11 innings. Dodgers over the Cubs 4-1. I watched the game at Wrigley and Muncy burned the Cubs with a long 2 RBI single that hit off the base of the wall in RCF. If Burleson ever turns into Muncy, we’ll be in good shape…Max can rip it.
April 6, 2024 at 7:25 pm #246882Best I can tell, the Cardinals need to play 10 more games without an E to break the record for most consecutive games without a Das Boot.

jj-cf-stlParticipantI’m expecting 5 IP starts to be Matz norm. He’s more of a two times thru the order guy.
Maybe a quality start occasionally, but only if the game falls right for him. He did have one last season, but over the last 5 seasons, he’s not that guy.
April 6, 2024 at 7:34 pm #246884I think you’re right JJ, and it may not be too very long before 5 IP starts are the norm for all SP’ers.

jj-cf-stlParticipantWe had 5 guys start today, who individually haven’t reached 500 career PA’s.
April 6, 2024 at 9:15 pm #246899Correction to several last place comments made above.
The last time the Cardinals were not in last place (or a share of it) was July 26 of last year.
In calendar time, it has been a little over eight months.
In terms of games played, they have been in last place for the last 68 games.
You’re welcome! 😉
Update: I am wrong. After their first win of the season in LA on 3/30, the Cardinals were in fourth place. It lasted just one day when the lost to LA in Game 4.
April 6, 2024 at 9:57 pm #246906Well, of the 15 teams that make up the NL, only 6 have a better W/L record than the Cardinals at the moment. So, from my cheap general admission seat the Cardinals are nowhere near last place. In fact, they’re currently a first division team…
