GG needs to be DFA’d. He is hanging on due to the salary owed.

    IL hides the salary (Matz).

True but GG is no longer on the IL so he is just taking up a 26 man spot that someone else could have.

At least he isn’t doing his taking up space in the lineup every day.

No, but you can reasonably certain we’ll see him taking up space on a pitcher’s mound before too long. Hopefully it won’t be in a one run game.

Someone mentioned that the Cardinals should simply pull the pin and DFA Gallegos. Obviously I agree with that viewpoint. The poor guy has an ERA a shade under 10.00 and has been scorched for 6 HR’s in 12 IP’ed. He’s not at all unlike placing nitro or RDX on the mound. They only owe him for the remainder of this season, so I say it’s time for him to go. I’m pretty sure he’ll latch on somewhere else. Hopefully in MIL or CHI.

The Cardinals used to release players that weren’t performing in the final year of their contracts in June/July.

It’s about time for them to release Gallegos and give one of the Memphis players a chance.
