That 3-2 pitch to Arenado is one Winn would have taken to right field. Looked a bit outside, but this guy has called those strikes all game.
And this is why I wanted to DFA Gallegos. He has a couple of games where he doesn’t give up runs and now he’s back to trusted. But his fastball is still bad. Right down the middle to Tellez. Then a walk. Then a hit.
I’m not sure what the point in Gallegos being on the roster is. He can’t even get an out many outings and just gives up runs while another RP is stuck cleaning up his mess.
That they have not figured out Gallegos’s arm is fried is a little scary from a self evaluation standpoint
But pretty hard to win a lot scoring 1 run
Gallegos has struggled really bad since they implemented the pitch clock. I guess he requires boring the batter to death to get them out. I always hated watching the mini human rain delay.
Straight fastball at 92 with a bit of struggle on the control side. The slider is still good. But he’s a one trick pony.
Mikolas again gets almost no run support. Is there something about the way he pitches that puts our offense to sleep? It’s been that way for years.
They weren’t going to use Kittredge, JoJo, Fernandez or Helsley being down. They didn’t want the rookie Bosiokovic for his debut. So the choice was to either put our lefties in against a bunch of righties or use Gallegos. That should have been Leahy or Roycroft. But we kept Gallegos, making the play from behind options poor.
Gallegos one of those bad contracts that the Cardinals play rather than bite the bullet and use better options.
Whatever happened to Zach Thompson? Is he pitching at Memphis? I had hopes for him coming into the season, but he flamed out early.
