Well worth the price, KCB. When it comes to burritos, you have to weigh the the pros and cons. I always focus on the pros…Haha!
July 3, 2024 at 5:47 pm #258743That bat boy’s as big as Contreras.
July 3, 2024 at 5:56 pm #258745I’ve always pulled for the Pirates when we aren’t playing them. Always have had players I like.
July 3, 2024 at 5:59 pm #258746I think we would be smart to leave Donovan right where he is on defense and in the lineup when Noot and others start coming back.
July 3, 2024 at 6:04 pm #258748^^^^^
Agreed. He’s been elite in Left and simply stinging the ball for well over a month now!
July 3, 2024 at 6:06 pm #258749That strike three pitch Gorman swung at is the type of pitch he needs to recognize and lay off. It was not a strike from the release point onward. Can’t give away pitches like that.
July 3, 2024 at 6:11 pm #258750A quick second inning tips the needle more towards the Dr Jekyll Mikolas than the Mr Hyde version.
If this holds, we are looking at a nail biter. Why do I have this nagging feeling we will get shutout tonight?
July 3, 2024 at 6:13 pm #258751Donovan leads the entire team in combined RBI’s and runs scored with 79. Gorman places 2nd with 74 and Burleson and Goldschmidt are tied for 3rd with 73 apiece. Donovan’s in my lineup and somewhere in the field every day if I’m on the top step.

jj-cf-stlParticipantno-hitter alert!
July 3, 2024 at 6:14 pm #258753
jj-cf-stlParticipantThere we go
WreckedJuly 3, 2024 at 6:15 pm #258754Winn looking like former Pirate and Cardinal shortstop Dick Groat on that single to right.
July 3, 2024 at 6:18 pm #258756
jj-cf-stlParticipantHow’s Winn doing on ROY?
July 3, 2024 at 6:19 pm #258757They sometimes show too many highlights on Bally. I have the sound turned down and when I glanced up at the TV screen they showed the clip of Burleson’s monster 2 run tater from yesterday. I thought he did it again…Haha!
July 3, 2024 at 6:25 pm #258758
jj-cf-stlParticipantMiles having Bucs flashbacks. No run support yet.
July 3, 2024 at 6:26 pm #258759How about a Pirate-Cardinal team? Guys that played with both clubs. Let’s see, just randomly I will go:
Tony Peña, c
Donn Clendenon,1b (always wondered we he spelled his name with two n’s)
Dots Miller, 2b (there’s one no one here knows)
Dick Groat, ss (but you knew I was going there)
Dick Schofield, 3b (bit of a stretch as he was primarily a shortstop, but played some third – and it makes the entire infield guys with “D” first names)
Bob Skinner, lf
Matty Alou, cf (Bill Virdon also a good one)
Andy Van Slyke, rf
Vinegar Bend Mizell, p
Nelson Briles,p
Matt Morris, p
Dave Guisti, rpJuly 3, 2024 at 6:38 pm #258760Good list, Bikemike. I recall being really pleased with the idea of both Alou and Clendenon being fitted for a Cardinal uniform, but obviously both players were well past their prime when they arrived in StL. I just remembered both of them having success against my favorite team while they were with the Boccos. I was particularly stoked about Matty. I mean, when you looked at the back of his card and saw that batting championship and those 238 hits in a season, you couldn’t help but to be encouraged.

jj-cf-stlParticipantLets see the bottom of the order start something, second time thru.
July 3, 2024 at 6:39 pm #258762
jj-cf-stlParticipantLeadoff double. How about a crooked number then.
July 3, 2024 at 6:41 pm #258763For a while Crawford was a no show, but in reality you could do a lot worse than him for a fail safe at SS. He’s had a really nice career and he was a pain in my backside for a long time when he was a Giant.
July 3, 2024 at 6:43 pm #258764Yeah, I loved it when we got Matty Alou. Was at a game as a teenager when we had Alou, and he hunted a ball to the shortstop for a hit one night. I mean he rolled it like a pool shot just past the pitcher and to the shortstop position, but still on the grass.
Seeing Crawford head first slide – does anyone slide feet first anymore??
July 3, 2024 at 6:44 pm #258765As good as Siani is, it’s ABs like that that keep him from being seriously considered the center fielder of the future.
July 3, 2024 at 6:45 pm #258766
jj-cf-stlParticipantGood contact
K
Winn singles
1-0 StLJuly 3, 2024 at 6:46 pm #258767No shutout! Maybe I am seeing us “pitch” a shutout.
July 3, 2024 at 6:46 pm #258768Winn just keeps going right along. Those 2 out RBI’s are killers.
July 3, 2024 at 6:49 pm #258769
jj-cf-stlParticipantCrawford table set. Well done.
