A real Bummer for Atlanta, as they’re having to go to the pen again. 4-1 Birds here in the bottom of the 7th…..and they’re looking for more with runners straddling 1st & 2nd with just one down.

Back in the 70s there was a separate entrance for the bleachers that did not connect with the rest of the stadium. After the first couple innings they were intentionally lax about watching if they saw a couple kids milling around just outside. Once in, there were ways a kid could sneak past the barrier into the concourse and have the run of the place. Usually we had money for a bleacher ticket which were dirt cheap, but if not, no problem. You had to have bus fare though. No getting around that.

Bikemike mentioned this yesterday, but I think it’s worth dwelling on…Anytime the Cardinals move another game above 2 over the .500 plateau, it’ll be a new high water mark since the ’22 season.

So at what point do the Brewers start thinking about 2021?

No more free passes, Fernando Fernandez!

I remember that bleacher entrance, Bling. I know a lot of people think that Busch Memorial was a generic “cookie cutter” venue, but I thought it had a lot of character and the architectural touches with the decorative precast arches gave it a one of a kind look and feel. I also liked the open air ramps to the various seating tiers. And it was loud and raucous during the heat of battle. I really miss it.

That’s 2 consecutive walks now for Fernandez. Did Kitty pitch yesterday…..I forgot.

It takes a lot of nerve to attempt a SB down by 3 runs in the 8th. I don’t like it, but it worked.

Whew! Game just came a few feet away from being deadlocked. 4-1 Good Guys heading to the bottom of the 8th.

Kitty did pitch yesterday. With a three run lead, I would go with Leahy tonight to close, but on a short leash. Keep Helsley close by, but see if you can win and give him a night off.

PS – Missed most of the early part of the game so if Leahy has pitched, scratch what I said. 😁

Good call, BicycleMike. I’ve been out of touch for a couple days……is The Kloffster still prowling our pen, or did they ship him south?

Ump squeezing Helsley early on, on two of his pitches.

Helsley is getting a little too much like Isringhausen. Likes to make it a bit too exciting before slamming the door.

Braves at 1st & 2nd with no outs….but this is exactly when he starts bearing down.

Nice off speed pitch to get Reilly. With Helsley, I thought he should have been used in that second Miami game last week, and not used tonight.

He’s laboring here – can’t find the command except to Reilly.

Walks Murphy and the sacks are loaded to the gills with Braves with still only one out. Base hit to right advancing any and all runners 90 feet now making it a 4-2 game.

Even 99 thigh high will come back to bite you. Can’t Helsley get a ground ball? Yeesh!

Drama City now as Siani races over into right-center to make a nice catch….runner from 3rd scores, but now there’s 2 out. The guy NEVER makes a bad move out there in center.
