“And with the type of lackluster season Nolan’s having with the bat, Crawford may not be all that much inferior in the batter’s box.”

Well Arenado has an OPS+ at 97, Crawford 73. But maybe playing against his old club, Brandon will have an extra spark and get a couple of EBHs.

To break open the seal on the din-din talk, we are having tacos tonight. And with the game on, I am going to crack open a cold, frosty one to wash it down.

For anyone who doesn’t have local TV to watch, Stanford University has been running an experiment to test streaming quality where they live stream the Bay area channels over the web. Useful if you want different NFL games in the winter.

Just search Puffer Stanford and you should be able to find it and then pick the Fox broadcast.

Din din for me was lamb shoulder chops on the charcoal grill. One of my favorites.

Did anybody else hear Reggie Jackson talking about his expieriences with hate nwhen he came into MLB? One of the people he spoke highly of is Dave Duncan, his teammate on the As.

That Bill Greason that they recognized. They said he pitched for the Redbirds in 1954. That is correct. Here is his line:

    4 IP
    8 HA
    4 HRA
    ERA 13.50

That was a really, really cool pre-game.

It was indeed a really cool pregame. I like what Masyn Winn said about it feeling bigger than baseball.

I am just glad integration in the game came before me so I could thrill to the exploits of Gibson, Flood, Brock, White, McGee, Lankford and the list goes on and on. Not to mention players on other teams such as Mays.

Both leadoff hitters wear number zero.

Crawford looked like a natural at 3B.

Had the catcher thrown behind him Winn would have been a dead duck. Good start for the Cards. Thought Burly had one for a moment.

I wonder what the paying crowd thinks about the rare occasion of having the Cardinals/Giants playing a game in their town of Birmingham, but not being able to see these two storied teams dressed out in their Big League uniforms?

Pallante fields his position pretty good.

Andre fielding well. I like how he’s pounding in to both sides.

Getting the righties out. Big key.

Yeah JJ, Pallante has been surprisingly effective as a starter of late…..knock on wood.

What’s with all of the primo vacant seats behind home plate? What a crying shame having those go unused.

I like Pages strike zone. He’s generous up, but I think he knows he needs to be.

Pages takes two right down central as Mike Shannon say, and eventually grounds out. That is an anemic average he is sporting. For all his good defense he probably goes back down when Willson is activated.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, Pugs. Looks like a frat house on a Sunday morning…Lots of empties.

A couple of lefties have centered up Andres’ slider for singles.
