No way around it. Failure to follow one of the most fundamental guidelines in the game cost the Cardinals the contest.

Even worse news, the Say Hey kid passes away. Man, what a player he was.

Awww man, that’s sad. Willie Mays. That’s all you need ever say.

To be fair, they have played over their heads so far this year. I am not real big on Marmol – think he makes too many pitching changes and I often don’t care for his lineup construction. But they have found a way to win a lot of close ones.

The manager can’t be blamed for this one unless he told the rookie not to bother covering 1B.

Yep – top five all-time player. Loved McCarver’s story about Mays. One time the Cardinals were in San Francisco and McCarver and Gibson went to meet up with Willie. Gibson was wearing glasses, as he did sometimes. Mays saw him and McCarver said he has that high pitched voice and goes, “He throws that hard and wears glasses!!” The intent being if he needs glasses and throws as hard as he does, that’s scary.

The first time I saw Willie Mays in person I was 9 years old. I saw that legendary #24 on the back of that Giant’s jersey and at that moment I had the feeling that I had accomplished everything in life that was ever worth accomplishing. I’ll never forget it.

Worst loss of the year IMO! Yes we have overachieved but leaving Lynn in as long as he did was just dumb! We have given several games away this month! It’s gotta stop!

Losing like this beats the way we lost last year in Miami. Remember when Hicks air mailed the ball over Goldschmidt’s head?

I remember it now…Haha! I recall the throw being so bad that it looked like he did it intentionally.

Ollie has been gambling with rookies late in tight games all year. This time it burned him. Is Winn injured or is Mo determined to prove that he made genius moves signing Crawford and Carpoenter.

Winn was very ill prior to the game starting so they pulled him out of the lineup.

    Winn’s back issues are worrisome.

At his tender age it does not bode well for a long career.

Probably had a bad taco for lunch – it being taco Tuesday and all.

What do you get when you combine our Junes worst SP’r, and the B-team members of our bullpen?

I’m with Nate Diaz on this one, I’m also, not surprised.

After going extras on MOnday, I did not like Ollie parading a lot of pitchers out there last night in a close one. It looked like it had the chance to be another extra inning affair, and you can’t burn through your ‘pen when you have guys going well.

There is no reason a pitcher should only pitch one inning. If he is throwing strikes and looking good, being all warmed and all he can go 2 and 3 innings. I thought both Leahy and King could have given us a few more outs.

Roycroft was so unstable in Chicago, bringing him in just looked like trouble. He needs to work low leverage situations for now, and get acclimated to the big leagues.

Lance Lynn is gritty but it is becoming apparent after each start that he and Gibson are not equal. One has a much better chance of having the 2025 option picked up than the other one.
