Sac fly makes it 7-7. Sigh.
June 18, 2024 at 7:05 pm #25688312 Marlins hits and we’re not through 6. Does every game need to be close? Is it a rule this year? We finally score runs and now allow them at the same rate.
June 18, 2024 at 7:06 pm #256884Back to square one with a tie game.
June 18, 2024 at 7:07 pm #256885
jj-cf-stlParticipantIt’s find a way time.
7-7June 18, 2024 at 7:13 pm #25688620 games out of 71 this year have been decided by more than 3 runs. It’s more than I thought. But still 51 close ones is a ton.
June 18, 2024 at 7:20 pm #256887Our largest margin of victory this season? 6. One time against the Reds. We have 2 five run wins (Red Sox& Angels). All the other wins have been close.
Leahy on in the 7th. Our pen is worn down. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Leahy pitch 2.
June 18, 2024 at 7:22 pm #256888We actually have an extra bullpen guy (Loutos) because Kyle Gibson is on bereavement leave – even though Kyle is pitching tomorrow.
June 18, 2024 at 7:22 pm #256889‘Lins light up Lynn and Libby – Leahy looking lean (and mean).
June 18, 2024 at 7:23 pm #256890
jj-cf-stlParticipant“Worn down” may have drove the Lance usage by Oli.
June 18, 2024 at 7:23 pm #256891We hold the Mighty Marlins scoreless for the third time tonight after a quick inning by Leahy. Some solid contact, but all of it hit at someone.
June 18, 2024 at 7:25 pm #256892We may get back-to-back 12 inning games at this rate.
June 18, 2024 at 7:29 pm #256893Right now Baseball Reference has us as the luckiest team in MLB. Let’s see if we can luck out and grab another win.
June 18, 2024 at 7:29 pm #256894Cards go down in order in the 8th. Marlins bullpen has held us down tonight.
June 18, 2024 at 7:30 pm #256895BikeMike – is that solely based on run differential?
June 18, 2024 at 7:31 pm #256896We’ve had a few clunkers that really have done our run differential in. And like I pointed out above, we aren’t ever blowing anyone out.
June 18, 2024 at 7:35 pm #256897Leahy looked real good, and with a tie game late and our ‘pen a bit worn I would have kept him in there against Chisholm.
June 18, 2024 at 7:36 pm #256898Ok. I know I may get beat up for this take. But I don’t like Ollie pulling Leahy here for King against Chisholm.
June 18, 2024 at 7:37 pm #256899“BikeMike – is that solely based on run differential?“
Yes. It is winning percentage relative to Pythagorean expected W-L. Pythag is computed from run differential.
Thus you would expect us to regress back to a losing record. But that does not always happen. Check out the 1984 Mets, one of the “luckiest” teams of all time.
June 18, 2024 at 7:37 pm #256900Leahy was throwing great this inning. And our bullpen is run down. I’d have stuck with Leahy.
But King gets the K. Good job John. Did his job.
June 18, 2024 at 7:40 pm #256901Now we get the Marlins best bullpen guy. It would have been nice to have scored against all the not so good guys.
June 18, 2024 at 7:41 pm #256902These ‘Lins are loaded with lefties.
June 18, 2024 at 7:43 pm #256903Gorman hitting.065 since Monday, June 9. 2 hits in those last 31 at bats with a whole lot of strikeouts. That was before 3 more K’s tonight.
June 18, 2024 at 7:47 pm #256904Nothing doin’ for the Cards offense in the 9th. King stays on for the bottom of 9th.
June 18, 2024 at 7:49 pm #256905King sure made short work of the 9th.
June 18, 2024 at 7:50 pm #256906John King looked better than I’ve ever seen him look tonight. Attacking inside. Aggressive with strikes.
