Donovan…“We were confident we had put together a team that could compete for a championship and reward the great fans in St. Louis for their unwavering loyalty, however injuries were obviously the overriding factor in limiting our success”…Haha!

ParticipantWhose quote was that Dom? Sounds like a press release.
June 2, 2024 at 3:49 pm #254720That’s a peek at Johnny’s PR address…Another line may read something similar to, “In light of all the injuries, we think he’s done an amazing job!”…Haha!

ParticipantWe woulda been good I’ll tell you that!!

ParticipantWell looks like a defensive minded lineup to me. Guess its staggered L-R to keep em from switching pitchers on us like last night? Got to say it bringing Carp back looks like a show of desperation to me. Does he hit anywhere but pulling to right field yet? Burly must be slot 2 to sac fly in Winn and Siani which is ok if he hits the ball. Not trying to sound negative cause we’ve been on a nice run. Keep it up and play good ball. National audience so don’t stink it up. Later…

jj-cf-stlParticipantThat lineup looks like us now. Put them on their heels Lance.
June 2, 2024 at 5:13 pm #254728Unfortunately, that’s probably the best lineup we can produce right now. 3 of those guys were supposed to be bench guys and 2 weren’t supposed to make the team at all.
On the positive side, Winn and Herrera are both playing above expectations. They’ve both adjusted well to MLB pitching at a young age. On the negative side . . . Well, there’s a lot of that these days. Come on LL! We need a 7 inning shutout from you!
June 2, 2024 at 5:28 pm #254732Yeah, obviously Winn has met or surpassed all expectations so far, but I think Herrera’s been a little overlooked. He’s done a remarkable job and has really improved his overall quality of play both before and since Contreras was hurt.
June 2, 2024 at 5:29 pm #254733At the end of the day, things could be even worse.
June 2, 2024 at 5:38 pm #254734I look for LL to put forth his usual workmanlike performance. I’m guessing if he can work to both Schwarber and Harper without too much traffic on the bases, he’ll be okay and will scuffle through another decent turn. However, if he’s forced to challenge either one of those two hitters, he could get skint-up in a hurry.
June 2, 2024 at 5:41 pm #254736Taking a gander at the out-of-town scoreboard on this late Sunday afternoon:
The Milwaukee sweeps the White Sox. They win this one 6-3 today at County Stadium in Milwaukee.
The Reds down the Cubs by the score of 5-2 today at Wrigley Field.
The Blue Jays win over the Pirates 5-4 at Toronto.
Cards and Phillies no score in the top of the 1st at Connie Mack Stadium.

June 2, 2024 at 5:53 pm #254737The Brewers are really playing well and are beginning to separate from the rest of the teams in the NLC. They now hold a 7.5 game lead which is the largest of any division leader in either league.
June 2, 2024 at 6:05 pm #254738On a good note……
Once we leave Philadelphia the Brewers come to Philadelphia. A three game set. If we could win tonight and then win in Houston and Philadelphia continues to roll we could be back within about four games of Milwaukee.
If is a big word though…….
Scoreboard Update – the Yankees plate four runs in the 9th and win 7-5 at Candlestick Park. Soto two homeruns in this one including a big 2-run dong in the 9th. They swept the Giants.
June 2, 2024 at 6:08 pm #254739Milwaukee has really surprised me. I thought with Counsell leaving, and their top two starters being gone they would be in rebuild mode.
They really have it going and look to be the odds on favorite to win the NLC. Still a long way to go and anything can happen, but they have been very consistent.

jj-cf-stlParticipantGorman again, after a very good month of May.
June 2, 2024 at 6:21 pm #254744That Gorman tater was at least 15 ft. fair.
June 2, 2024 at 6:21 pm #254745
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe catch on Burly saved a run.
June 2, 2024 at 6:27 pm #254746I see Gorman had another HR. He has been much better the last month and is picking up steam.
June 2, 2024 at 6:27 pm #254747They ought to charge Thomson with 2 challenges.
June 2, 2024 at 6:29 pm #254748Lance got Harper to chase. That matchup made me nervous…Haha!
