Probably not until Matz returns and cycles through the rotation a few times. He’ll more than likely get torched before they position themselves to shut him down again with another malady. Then Liberatore will step in to take his place again. And so it goes…

Well at least the Cardinals are scoring a few runs. They’ve moved up from 29th to 28th in the league in the runs scored category. And not that it means anything, but the winner of all 3 games of the series with Boston managed 14 hits in each game. I also noticed that Seattle sits in 1st place atop the ALW and has scored only 2 more runs than the Cardinals this season, so maybe there’s hope.

It does sound like they will do something besides Libby next time. If they would quit with the delusion and just let him focus on being a one inning guy I think he would be good.

Middleton pitched another inning yesterday. 17 pitches, 7 strikes. At least he hasn’t broken down and the rehab is still underway. I am going to be surprised if we get anything out of him. same with O’Brien.

We won’t need a #5 starter until the May 29th game. We could go with an extra RP in the pen until then and let Liberatore pitch RP. I was hoping for more out of him and haven’t given up on him yet. He may get the next start still, although they could give it to Thompson or Robberse as well.

Robberse is 5-2 with a 3.29 ERA 41 hits in 54 Innings has 53K’s, 16 Walks…if he keeps pitching well he may be called up in July/August…not sure there is a need to rush him as I don’t see this team really going anywhere unless they can miraculously get over .500

Zach Thompson has only thrown 14 innings at Memphis, sub 2 ERA but also 13 walks in 14 innings is a problem

Pallante has pitched OK as a starter which is where they may need to keep him …not sure his arm bounces back to be a reliever but he has way to many walks and only 16 innings so far

Graceffo needs more starts and to cut down on his walks…his last start was pretty good but to many walks

Obviously, the org thinks Noot is a better center fielder than Carlson.

    So that redefines Carlson’s role.

Unless Carlson starts hitting pretty quickly his role might be DFA

There would have to be a replacement for Carlson.

Yep, Dylan has better than DFA value. Send him down if need be.

But, the only way he raises his value is thru mlb playing time. Mo can demote him, stop his clock and call him a depth piece, but that basically freezes his trade value too.

If Dylan and Siani have switched roles, then Edman for Carlson could be expected. TBD.

Carlson might survive 2024 but I would imagine he would be a serious non-tender candidate this offseason if things don’t pick up.
