This Red Sox pitcher’s perfect thru 9 outs with 5 K’s.

Cardinals deserved that for running Liberatore back out there with his pitch count at 59 to start the inning. He was supposed to be on a pitch count of 60.

Gorgeous day here and we are working around the yard and garden. I have the KMOX broadcast going. Not sounding too good so far.

Bench players changing our team D. No way Winn doesn’t get that out. Siani shuts the rally down.

OK. This is the first game I have seen this year. Pages has no prayer of ever controlling the running game. Just give them the bases so we don’t risk a throw into the outfield. He also has no prayer of blocking errant pitches from that one knee down stance, which he uses even with runners on. Even with a runner in scoring position or on third. This is the best guy we had? Can we be done with Liberatore in the rotation now?

Noot with good power for not being a real big guy.

Looked like a t-ball game around third base. Plan to lose is a good description for Sunday lineups. That said, Noot just jacks that ball over the bullpen. Finally on the board and perfect game gone.

“Bench players changing our team D. No way Winn doesn’t get that out. Siani shuts the rally down.”

Rick Horton on the radio broadcast said Crawford should have taken charge on that ball that Arenado tried to get.

Roycroft now really needs to survive 3 innings to protect the pen. Good opportunity for him to impress.

Bling, I know he looked bad in a small sample, but Pages is actually a very good defensive catcher. Not sure if it was nerves or rust.

Well so much for Roycroft covering 3. He may not make it 2. Fernandez and Robertson are going to see a lot of action.

Plan to see Burleson on the mound in the 9th . . .

Sounds like nothing has been hit hard but the Red Stockings are making this one a laugher. Glad I did not watch – at some point if we are to compete we need to sweep some series.

At this point we should not be using the Sunday / get away day line up. Not saying that today isn’t just Boston’s day but as long as we’re under .500 – barring injury – there are certain players that don’t need to be in the lineup…

I hate to see Gorman sit while he is hot. His last week of starts he’s on it.

Its 9-1, they might as well let Carlson play. I have to say I have not been impressed with the hitting, fielding or pitching.

The Cardinals will be 20-26 after today’s game.

They will be 1-7 on Sundays.

Which means every other day of the week, they are a .500 ballclub.

20-26 W/L and 47% completed of the deadline decision (game 100), a week before trading ends.

That’s another thing that is crazy about this organization – they sit players in the midst of hot streaks.

A few years ago, Bader increased his OPS by 500 pts in two weeks. What did the Cardinals do? They benched him for the next two weeks. Stuff like that messes with a player.

The 1-7 on Sunday games is a source of interest, LA. I’d have to guess it’s connected to the whiz-kid’s lineup card on the sabbath.

It definitely is connected to the lineup card. You are telling your team you don’t care about winning on Sundays.

Matheny used to to these “getaway” lineups, but I don’t remember them being every Sunday. Thought it was about once per month.

I am amazed nobody in our analytics department can figure this out.

But then again, last year, we were 90% of the way through the season before they figured out our left-handed hitters can hit left-handed pitchers better than their right-handed replacecements.
