At least doubled his pitch count but not bad after 3

Winn has a quick bat. I don’t like that big stride he takes as it can get you off balance. But it seems to work for him. Need Noot to get going, but we can say that about a lot of guys.

On that Red Barrett season, when 1TD said 1946 it didn’t sound right as I played the ‘46 Cardinals a lot in APBA back in the day, and he was not on them. So I looked it up and saw it was ‘45.

My mistake wasn’t a typo either, Bikemike. The old headlights just don’t light up the print as well as they once did. That was clearly an E-1TD…An old fashioned “Das Boot”…Haha!

Reports are that the Padres are about to trade 3 prospects for Arraez

Can anyone recall when or why 100 pitches became some sort of magic number?

I’ve wondered the same thing 1TD. It seems too nice and round of a number and it seems like it would vary pitcher to pitcher.

When Arenado is on he has that head right down on the ball. He follows the ball to the bat as good as anyone I can recall.

Arenado again, a pair of timely doubles.

We all commit a das-boot now and then 1TD, especially in our later years. Like players late in their careers, we are not quite as sharp in the second half.

Yeah Albert, my limit is a lot less than a guy like Spahn…And who or what entity deemed this number to be a magic one? Or possibly it was some sort of all knowing supreme being…Haha!

They think it lowers the risk of arm injuries (offset by teams teaching kids to throw 100+ mph)

Yeah, LA, but why 100 and not 99 or even 150?

I wonder if hitters will ever have a swing count? You know, 50 rips and they sit you down for a while. You ever chopped any wood? It’ll flat beat you up…Haha!

How did we come to decide that 100 pitches were too many?

Well, it seems that the number was arbitrary.

James Andrews, the renowned orthopedic surgeon, suggested 100 — a ballpark figure — in a 1999 study titled “Elbow Injuries in Young Baseball Players” with James Whiteside. Even 17 years later, this study is still frequently cited. The 100-pitch limit suggestion took hold, and it seems over time, the suggestion lost its ambiguity.

1TD, this is what I found on Fox Sports

For the moment, Mike Siani has a higher batting average than Lars Nootbaar and Nolan Gorman in the 32nd game of the seaon. We are 20% of the way into the season.

Very astute of you to pick up on that!

After completing these 7 scoreless innings, Gray’s ERA is now a scant 0.89 after 5 turns in the rotation. Not too shabby for a little guy who’s only listed at 5-10.
