Noticeable difference in the team D without Scott and Winn

Poor defense once again. Our outfielders have had multiple plays that could have been made. Plus a couple of errors. And now Crawford throws it wide on the tailor made DP. I guess that’s what you get with guys out of position (Nootbaar and Crawford).

Nolan Sr swings at 3 in a row well off the plate. Two he fouled off and then swings and misses the third. Ugh.

    RUNS NEEDED. Come on lads.

One of the biggest disasters this season has been Goldschmidt’s poor hitting with runners in scoring position. He continues to be one of the worst in the league and has tons of at bats doing it. I haven’t looked at the numbers, but I believe he’s actually been a decent hitter when runners aren’t in scoring position.

And the guy we got for Carlson gives up more runs. Why oh why did we choose to trade him no matter what for anything? So stupid. We did the same with O’Neill but at least Robertson might be ok. We shall see.

Paul and his Ks isn’t the problem tonight.

Goldy with bases empty has s 112 WRC+ on the season. With runners in scoring position it’s 53.

Armstrong has given up at least one earned run in three of the four games since the Cardinals traded for him.

It’s been a problem the whole season Bling. If Goldschmidt gets a hit last inning, then Alexander isn’t the pitcher last inning and we may have pulled this one out. That’s been the case a lot. After Edman not playing all year, I’d list Goldschmidt’s hitting with runners in scoring position as the 2nd biggest reason we are where we are this year.

Pallante goes 5.2 IP and after 6 IP we’re tied.

I agree Fernandez was the real problem tonight. And Armstrong as well. No question about that. Im just pointing out that Goldschmidt has hit really poorly in key moments all season long and he’s had more of those at bats than any other player on the team.

    Heres some goʻd news
He had a triple and homerun tonight. Theres hope for next year with a couple savy moves next year. Don’t waste any more time bringing in the new regime. Let it happen the day the season is over.

    2022: .792
    2023: .761
    2024: .639 (Goldy at .518)

He played a part in that. His 2 out walk to DeJong was not needed and then a single to Melendez ended his night. Then it seemed after that the rails came off the pitching staff. Fernandez was bad and Army is what he is.

That’s the point of my post JJ. Cows already out of the barn for 2024. Walker is a critical cog in getting this miscast bunch straightened out for 2025. And there needs to be another rh piece. We can’t go into the next season relying on Goldy and Arenado. Arenado is a singles hitter now. Bringing Goldy back would be insanity.
