Well, that was quite the interesting play. Sanchez hit it good and Waino deflected it right to Goldy for the last out. 0-0, just like nothing happened.

Waino is chuckling as he walks off the mound……a little bit of luck never hurt anyone….except some of those big lotto winners who squander their fortune. Booyah now in the house….time for a couple cold ones Boo!

    Top of 3.

Bader – Whiffs on a high inside cutter.

Waino – Lofts it in the air to routine right center where Robles and Eaton will converge….and it’s Eaton taking command and the ball for out #2.

    Carp – Whiffs.

I guess Carpenter is just going to be that “backwards K” guy now. What is that, four times looking in the last two nights? Sheesh.

If you’re a baseball purist like a BobbyReed, then this is your kind of game….oh oh, Adam Eaton just changed that a bit by jerking a solo shot out just fair to right.

Eaton and Robles go back to back off Waino and it’s a quick 2-0 Nats.

    See how that’s done, Carpenter??

Robles follows suit and that’s Back-to-back jacks off Waino….oh oh can I say that? Yes the ‘s’ makes it acceptable….but what’s not acceptable is the score….2-0 Nats with nobody out.

Waino needs to take a big deep breath…..and gosh darn get somebody out!

Waino gets a couple Ks to get out without more damage. He’s running hot and cold tonight. The ump is calling a pretty wide zone.

That frame could have been a whole lot uglier….but 2 runs was bad enough the way Sanchez is dealing. We mosy along to the 4th.

Dejong is really enjoying hitting between Goldy and Ozuna…on base at a nice clip and crushing those doubles.

Ozuna crushes one…right into the glove of the second baseman. Bad luck there.

Jmart smacks another single. All he does is hit. Another chance for Yadi…

Yadi walks, leaving it up to Wong. Kolten lays a great bunt down to score the run!! 2-1

Now Bader with the bloop into center for the 3-2 lead!

    Top of 4.

Goldy – Gives her a ride to deep left! Juan Soto back to the track and he’ll corral it on the track for the out. Boy when that left Goldy’s bat I thought we were going to be treated with a nice 360 foot Goldy jog around the bases.

    DeJong – Walks.

Marcell – Tie this baby up, Marcell. Blisters a shot , but right at Dozier at 2nd.

JMart – Lines a base hit to left and JMart is on fire! How can you even think about taking him out of this lineup? Right now I’d play Jose vs eighties, lefties, knuckleballers, fireballers, finesse hurlers, veterans, rookies….Jose is ready to battle all comers!

Yadi – Walks on a 3-2 close one and the bases are totally crammed with Birds!

Wong – Lays a dandy bunt down towards 3rd base and Difo is going to have to put that ball in his hip pocket and the Cards have finally dented the scoreboard….2-1 Nats.

Bader – Base hit to center that will plate JMart!….Yadi comes chugging around 3rd and the throw is wide left and the Birds have seized the lead!

Waino – Grounds out to short.

Got to play this close with Waino. The lefties have given him trouble tonight. I am not apposed to heading to the pen early in this one to get a win with what’s coming on the bump the next 2 games for the Nats.

Great hit by Bader!! That’s the situational hitting I’m talking about!

A nice inning for Waino to shut the Nats down after the big 4th for the Birds. Now let’s see the lineup get going again in the 5th and get to the soft underbelly of the Nationals bullpen.

Carp crushed that 1-2 pitch… foul. And then whiffs on the cutter down the middle. Sanchez has missed a lot in the middle of the plate the last couple innings.

Doubles Dejong strides into second yet again and we may be in business. Marcell can add a tally or two here.

Ozuna hits it a mile…in the air, and it lands in Soto’s glove for the final out.

    Top of 5.

Carp – Strikes out for the third consecutive time tonight and I do not believe that Anabelle Sanchez will be on the Carpenter’s 2019 Christmas card list.

Goldy – Sends a respectable fly to right , but not quite respectable enough as Eaton will glove it just in front of the track for the second out.

DeJong – Lines it….just over Difo’s head at 3rd and it’s heading for the left field corner where Soto will race over to embrace it, but not before DeJong will check into 2nd with a double….boy who’s hotter…JMart or DeJong….I guess we can insert Marcell into that equation too.

Marcell – Flies out to left.

“Goldy – Gives her a ride to deep left! Juan Soto back to the track and he’ll corral it on the track for the out.”

Two rules to live by, Pugs:
    1) Coffee is for closers.
    2) Exclamation points are for homers.

I recall one Mike Shannon call oh so very vividly. It was the eventual 20-inning loss to the Mets, back about a decade ago. Allen Craig I think it was, up in extra innings.

“Long one down the line! If it’s fair it’s a game-winner! And that one is…caught up against the wall.”

Calls like that one define Mike Shannon to me. And not in a good way. You could not pay me enough to ever again make me listen to Mike Shannon broadcast a Cardinal game. Yeah, the Hatfields and McCoys have got nothing on me, when it comes to holding grudges.

Besides those two hiccups in the 3rd, Waino has B edn pretty much lights out.

Waino has been mostly efficient in this game, especially in the last two innings. If we can stretch him one more inning, that would be nice.
