6:05 p.m. RHP Adam Wainwright (2-2, 3.96) vs. RHP Anibal Sánchez (0-3, 6.00) Fox Sports Midwest // MLB Network // KMOX
April 30, 2019 at 10:31 am #89271Big win last night to start this week. After the first few innings I was sort of worried that Corbin might be going to twirl a no-hitter at us. But things sure changed in a hurry.
Any of you other posters out there worried about Carpenter? He’s not doing much again, maybe a little better than last year at this time. But he finally turned it around and got things going.
You think he can turn it around again? One can go to the well too often.

stlcard25ParticipantWe have won 15 of our last 20 games, the best record in @MLB over that stretch! 🔥

April 30, 2019 at 3:05 pm #89307I would suspect Fowler will be in the lineup the next couple of days in CF in lieu of Bader. I say that because of Scherzer and Strasburg and Fowler is a switch hitter.
I am going to the high school game tonight. Forest Park at Jasper. A big Dubois County rivalry. First pitch is at 6:00 so I wont get home until about the 5th inning or so. I will be keeping tabs on the score, however.

April 30, 2019 at 3:33 pm #89311#Cardinals lineup for this evening. Bader in center. Gregerson has arrived in DC. Decision pending. Fowler not starting or in the hitting groups today. Explanation pending. Check @stltoday for coverage this afternoon & evening. #stlcards pic.twitter.com/kc99F9v8vZ

April 30, 2019 at 3:52 pm #89315A lot of experience between those 2 starting pitchers.
April 30, 2019 at 4:23 pm #89319Per Goold, Fowler has the flu. No indication when he caught it and how much longer he will be out.
April 30, 2019 at 5:12 pm #89320I would hope he wouldn’t be on the bench but he was last night.
I caught a tad bit of a cold as well with the slight weather change in San Diego. If this is the worst then I consider myself lucky.
April 30, 2019 at 5:23 pm #89321I’d send Fowler on to Chicago…..let him infect that city instead of our team. We have a notable programming change for tonight’s game thread. Instead of the scheduled PBP start time of 5:55pm(cst), we’ll be in the saddle at 6:03pm(cst) instead. We profusely apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. Go Birds!

Just glancing at the matchup possibilities for the next couple of days, it may have been smart to give Dexter a couple days off anyway. He hasn’t hit Sanchez well and has struggled badly versus Scherzer. As have so many. Like Paul Goldschmidt for example.
Goldy is 1-18 lifetime against Mad Max, with 10 strikeouts. But Gyorko has hit him well. So maybe, Carp slides over to first base and Jedd gets a start at the hot corner against the St. Louis native. (Did you know that Scherzer is from St. Louis? It’s true.)
Surprise stat of the day:
Harry Bader, batting .222, has a higher on-base percentage than Jose Martinez, batting .351. Martinez has the edge in slugging, by 15 points. But Bader tops him in OBP by 25.Bader has a higher OPS than Martinez or Fowler. Barely, but still higher. Probably plays juuust a bit better defense, too. Gotta get the kid in the lineup whenever you can.
April 30, 2019 at 6:03 pm #89325If this was last year, one wouldn’t be too off base in saying that the flu was about all that Dexter has caught lately.
But this is a new year and Dexter is a new man.April 30, 2019 at 6:12 pm #89326Top of 1. Annabelle Sanchez dealing for Washington.
Carp – Took a 2-2 fastball right down Main street and Matt can take a seat. RatsBuddy could have hit that one….not very far, but Rat could have made contact.
Goldy – Whiffs as Goldy extends his bat way out of the zone for that wide one….2 outs.
DeJong – Hits it in the air to left where Soto won’t have to move far for…and he has it to retire the side.

NatsApril 30, 2019 at 6:16 pm #89327Wonder where Euro, Booyah, stlcard25, Minuteman3, Nyquist & Co. are? I’m feeling mighty lonley.
April 30, 2019 at 6:18 pm #89328Waino sets them down in order in the 1st too….like Sanchez, two of them via the K route.
April 30, 2019 at 6:21 pm #89329
stlcard25ParticipantI’m around, Pugs. Just out for an evening walk since the weather cleared.
April 30, 2019 at 6:25 pm #89330
stlcard25ParticipantSanchez cracking?? He balks Jmart to 2nd. A chance for Yadi to do some early damage.
April 30, 2019 at 6:30 pm #89331
stlcard25ParticipantGuess not…he gets Yadi to fly out and then comes back from 3-0 on Wong (with help from a generous 3-0 strike call) and gets the K to end the half inning.
April 30, 2019 at 6:30 pm #89332Top of 2.
Ozuna – Been hotter than a pistol of late. Marcell goes deep sea fishing for an Anabelle sinker and comes up empty handed….3 K’s now for the crafty Nats eighty.
JMart – Pokes a little fly to right that will fall in for a hit….atta boy Jose!
Yadi – Balk moves JMart to 2nd. Yadier flies out to Eaton in right and JMart will have to stay put at 2nd.
Wong – Caught gazing for strike 3 ….I want the Wong back who played the first 2 weeks of this season.

Nats 0April 30, 2019 at 6:32 pm #89333Stlcard25 in the house! On average, Stlcard25 is worth a run and a half for our boys every game.
April 30, 2019 at 6:36 pm #89334Oh Oh! Back-to-back wounded quails have the Nats in business here in the bottom of the 2nd with nary an out.
April 30, 2019 at 6:37 pm #89335
stlcard25ParticipantWaino in some trouble in the Nats 2nd as two consecutive Nationals reach base. Now he battles Kieboom…and gets called strike 3!
April 30, 2019 at 6:37 pm #89336Working 6 days this week Pugs. Just got home a couple minutes ago. Got to go in early in the AM. Going to have to get my sleeping aid in early tonight. Might crack one in a few. lol
Couple nickel dimers off of Waino as Bill Raftery would say. 2 on and no out.
April 30, 2019 at 6:41 pm #89337
stlcard25ParticipantNice barehand play by Marp to nail Dozier on the squibber and now we see Difo walked to face the pitcher.
April 30, 2019 at 6:42 pm #89338Bases teeming with Nats with 2 outs….come on Waino!
April 30, 2019 at 6:44 pm #89339We got lucky on that.
