Cottar, I have no doubt the Brewers win out. Look who they play.

And it looks like Gant and Brebbia are going in the dumpster at just the wrong time. Blech

Gant has been in the dumpster since early June. He had a nice 9 week start where Shildt ran him into the ground.

    March 28 – June 6: 61 Team Games
    32.2 IP (28 G), 35 K, 9 BB, 3 HR, 13 H, 4 ER, 1.10 ERA, 19% IS

    June 7 – September 24: 97 Team Games
    32.0 IP (35 G), 22 K, 24 BB, 1 HR, 37 H, 25 ER, 6.47 ERA, 46% IS

This isn’t cherry picking a particular stat. I divided his season in two halves based on innings pitched and he clearly isn’t the same pitcher. For how good and dominant he was in April and May he has been an absolute dud and disaster, especially in September. In September alone his number are horrifying. He can’t even be trusted to get 3 outs in a single game and that’s based on how often he’s been used for partial innings. I have no idea what Shildt was doing bringing him into last night’s game.

    3.0 IP (8 G), 6 K, 7 BB, 0 HR, 6 H, 7 ER, 21.00 ERA, N/A IS%

The only thing going for him right now is he isn’t prone to giving up the long ball but he’s plenty prone on putting guys on base and being the other teams liquid gas and match.

well I gave up around the 12th inning, got up and saw it went a lot further and we lost. too many wrong decisions in my mind. I wasn’t a fan of having miller face right handed batters in the 9th. I also wouldn’t have loaded bases to get to the hottest hitter in the last inning. take your chances with the other guy with the winning run at first not second. brebbia has had a couple of bad outings here lately but I feel hes fine. bottom line is you cant just score one run in 9 innings against a team that is out of it. I know they are a solid team but we should be wanting it more.
