Brian, I’ll double down. Does it makes sense to exhaust your 3 top relievers with a 4 run lead and your most important series of the year starting tomorrow? 2 run lead – maybe. If you dont trust any of the other guys get rid of them. It simples makes no sense.
Let me ax ‘yall something: Assuming we take the division, can we beat the Braves? I have seen very few Brave games this year and I don’t think I could even name more than 2 players.
BTW I like our chances if we make it to the Dodgers. 1964 and 2006 and 2011 prove anything can happen in the post season.

I did go on the “Tilt -a-Whirl” at the fair once when I was a kid. It made me sick and I threw up Pugs. The topper was it shook all the change out of my pockets and the carneys picked it up and kept it before I realized what happened and went back to find it! -Whirling Wooster
Wainwright has his season ERA down to 3.83. He has allowed 1 earned run in 4 September starts covering 27 innings. That is an ERA of 0.33. If he keeps this up, he will be one of the most valuable players to get us to the postseason. Sign him up for 2020 on another incentive laden contract. Then we only need 1 SP for next year.
Is there something wrong with Poncedeleon? He pitched 4 innings on Sept 1 and 1 inning on Sept 7 since being called back up.

Carter, I heard TLR once say something like this: You play 162 games to get into the playoffs. Once in the playoffs your regular season record does not matter. It gets down to match ups and who gets hot.
I am hoping the Redbirds get in and then go on a roll like they did in the seasons you referenced.
well didn’t get to catch it live but watched a recording. waino pitched great. I liked shildt being aggressive by putting bader in to run for carpenter at third. would have been close with carpenter running, no chance with bader. the one thing with Washington is you can count on some mistakes in the field generally and we capitalized. so because we won, im not ready to say our offensive woes are behind us. im thinking that with edman being as hot as he is, maybe flip him and dejong. our middle has to produce, bottom line. making edman part of that middle might help. put him at the five hole and good things could happen. put Molina right behind him, and you open up a lot of possibilities. while I would love to see us put it to the cubs this weekend, ill be happy if we split. could open the door for the brewers but we already did that anyway.
They sure did, ED ( that’s “Euro Dandy” to the layman ). It got a little hairy in the bottom of the 9th, but our “good” friend Ryan Braun whiffed to end it. That’s one weird dude….not the guy you’d want to marry your daughter. Now if the Reds can clip the cubbies in extras, oh what a day this will be.

Pugs, I don’t get a nickname? I feel left out!
I’ve never rooted for the Reds as much as I have the last 3 days…
I tried to think of one, but your long name makes it very difficult, CardsFanInChiTown. I have no idea why, but when I think “CardsFanInChiTown”, the word “Fancy” comes to mind. Tough to fit that in….maybe just “Cards Fancy”???
Nico Hoerner hit a screaming line drive to right with two outs in the 10th and the tying run at 2nd. When he hit it I thought “Oh sh~t, tie game” but it carried out to Aristotle Onassis and he gloved it to end the game.
WHEW…………..
Iglesias got a two out hit into the RF corner that won it for the Reds. When he came to bat I said outloud “This is not the guy the Cubs want at the plate right now” and sure enough, boom, liner into the RF corner!
I told Whitey Herdog that was worth a bite of hot dog for you..:)

We are all Reds fans tonight. Maybe not quite as profound, but this reminds me of Kennedy’s I am a Berliner speech. How could the Reds lose with Rat, Whitey Herdog, Pugs, CFICT, gscott, yours truly, et al hanging on until the last squeeze of the ball by Aristotle Onassis?
