Been a while since we plated 3 in an inning in a close game. Our putrid RISP may be on the rise.

I dont get why you pitch Gallegos and make him unable to pitch tomorrow. If are lesser relievers can’t hold a 4 run lead we are not a good enough team to go to the playoffs anyway.

The Nats aren’t getting a WC spot unless the Cubs totally collapse. It’ll be another Central division affair.

Not so sure about that. They have three this weekend at Miami High School then finish with a 8 game homestand.

Well our 8th inning fizzled. Caught stealing third with no outs? Really?

You have made this kind of statement several times in recent days regarding different situations. It surprises me. In the most general sense, I do not understand how one day’s events by a few players define an entire team, whether the events are especially bad or good.

An example on the other side of the coin. Just because Max Scherzer gave up five runs to the Cards and their defense failed them today doesn’t mean the Nats are not good enough to make the post-season. It just means they lost an important game.

gscottar, was it a steal attempt or a hit and run?

An excellent win and conclusion to the series!! Way to go Cards, and go Reds and Padres later!

Well this was a nice win!

This score should give the Cubbies and the Crew something to ponder tonight.

Even if the Cubs win tonight we would enter the series with a 2 game lead, which means even if we only win 1 we would leave town tied. Our goal should be a split of the series.

    Coming tonight:

Reds: Tyler Mahle, RHP, 2-11, 5.11 ERA
at Cubs: Jon Lester, LHP, 13-10, 4.59 ERA

Mahle is 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA in three starts for the Reds since returning from Triple-A Louisville.

Lester allowed seven runs (four earned) on 11 hits in five innings vs. the Pirates on Friday. He has given up 15 runs (12 earned) in 10 1/3 innings in his past two starts.

Padres: Dinelson Lamet, RHP, 2-5, 4.06 ERA
at Brewers: Adrian Houser, RHP, 6-6, 3.84 ERA

Houser started the Goldschmidt game last Friday.

The Reds won a helluva game last night, taking it to those Cubs.

Big win today to take the series. Looked really bad for a game, then looked good less than 24 hours later. Fortunately Cards didn’t let early sloppy defense dig a hole today.

One takeaway I have from this series that I didn’t have before is that Soto is a jerk. Glad he was the one who looked like a high schooler in LF making the critical mistake to put the game out of reach.

Well after this game I give the Cards a D for performance. That D stands for DESIRE because that’s what they showed a lot of today. They want to make the playoffs and I am feeling slightly uneasy about giving them a C (out) vote this morning. My greatest worry at that time was Sherzer and 4 games in Wrigley. The Sherzer thing is gone (especially now that I know he is 2-6 against the Cards) and the Cubs lost last night makes me think they are human but the next 4 games will be the decider for the season. What I really don’t want to see under any circumstances is for the Brewers to sneak in for the title. Anyway, I feel better for the Cards chances now and still say GO CARDS.

    Edman = E for Excellence

Fowler = F for frigging good play this season including leadoff.

Waino = W for WINNER and I hope he comes back next season.

What would you give for a Reds win at Wrigley tonight? Not likely with Mahle pitching. I guess we should feel fortunate the Reds won one of the three games.

Oh, and no sweet potatoes or baked carrots at the Amish restaurant today. Daggone it!
