Seems like Wong has always made the difficult plays. As he has matured, there have been many fewer mistakes on routine plays. He has earned the right to play every day without question.
With Wong I used to feel uneasy when he had all day to field the ball or a long time to make the throw. Not so much now. He’s naturally much better at reacting during a play than analyzing during a play, but he made noticeable improvement last year.
Back to the Ford ads on the helmets. Goold was asked about it on Twitter and he directed people to his article. So I went there, but all I can see is this one sentence, which provides no insight. Or did I miss something?
“The Reds and the Cardinals will feature an advertisement for Ford on their batting helmets during the Mexico Series.”
Well, yeah, we can see that much…

Carp’s ugly throwing motion rearing its ugly self for an error to lead off the 5th. Hope Mikolas can work through it.
Welp, this half inning has stunk. A couple of errors (or one that should be), a hit to a pitcher and now a homer and we are tied.
Well, nope. Mikolas can’t overcome Carp’s error. Ozuna gets into the act with poor defense in LF and a HR ties it up. The Carp error on such an easy play proves to be devastating. Now O’Neill drops one in CF that should’ve been the last out. Cards D has fallen apart.
Isn’t it weird how the bad defense appears contagious? Now the teams start the game over even again.

Beautiful Spanish lead-in by Carioca to today’s game and then nary a Spanish word since. Oh well, I think we fell 3 Spanish posters shy anyway, plus I had to go dropoff a friend at the airport early this afternoon and what should of taken 20 minutes ended up being over 2 hours…..hence my tardiness. Pm I just saw where the Reds smacked us with a 4 spot in the 5th to knot things up. We CANNOT let these bloaks sweep us! If that happens I’ll never step foot in Mehico ever again!
Cards miss out on a very good scoring opportunity in the 6th and strand a couple. Game is not trending well. Need to get it back under control with Gant now in relief.

Ford paid as a presenting sponsor of the event. This has been allowed in the international series, like the ones a few weeks ago in Tokyo. I am not sure if they are involved in the traveling expense, but their sponsorship is part of agreement with players and compensation.

The stadium organist playing “La Cuckaracha” For the umpteenth time. I bet it took him 12 years and many pesos to learn that tune.
Gants walks another one, but once again prevents the free pass from turning into a score. He gave the Cards what they had to have to keep them even. Going to the top of the 7th and Carp just makes amends by putting the redbirds back on top with a solo shot.
Statcast Mehico won’t have the tale of the tape on O’Neill’s tater until Tuesday, stlcard25…..at the earliest.
