Unfortunate that Bader stared at two lovely strikes then whiffed at one in the dirt.
September 2, 2019 at 3:30 pm #104856Anybody else think that Gallegos needs a day or two off?
September 2, 2019 at 3:40 pm #104857Well, here comes the sphincter clencher!
September 2, 2019 at 4:01 pm #104860I dont see how you dont bring Waino back in 2020 if he is willing to take another incentive based contract.

stlcard25ParticipantGood win there!! Cards 3, Giants 1.
September 2, 2019 at 4:01 pm #104862And That’s A Winner!!
September 2, 2019 at 4:01 pm #104863Herewith unclenched.
Rah Cmart!
Rah Cardinals!September 2, 2019 at 4:01 pm #104864CMart with a clean finish. We get the win and it appears we will stay 3 games up with the Cubs winning.
September 2, 2019 at 4:02 pm #104866
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cubs scored 5 in the 7th to go up 5-1, so it appears the Cards will remain 3 in front.
September 2, 2019 at 4:05 pm #104867Martinez has been sending a message to those who didn’t trust him because he was giving up too many base runners.

stlcard25ParticipantMartinez has been sending a message to those who didn’t trust him because he was giving up too many base runners.
As is typical in his career, when he’s ready to pitch and focused, he is nearly unhittable. It’s when he comes unfocused it’s when he gets in trouble.
September 2, 2019 at 4:41 pm #104871If we go 15-10 (.600) the rest of the way, the Cubs will have to go 18-7 (.720) just to tie. The Cardinals have positioned themselves very well for the stretch run. If we can at least go 3-4 against the Cubs in the final 7 games of head-to-head, we should win the division.
September 2, 2019 at 5:37 pm #104873I like Goldschmidt’s defense, too. But he was 2 for 12 over the weekend, and he failed time and time again with runners in scoring position. He will be collecting $130M of our money over the next five years. For that kind of money we should be getting the Goldschmidt that was playing for the Arizona, not this. So why aren’t we getting the Goldschmidt that was playing for Arizona? And is that player even real?
September 2, 2019 at 5:43 pm #104874Yes, he is…be patient. He is a very good player.
September 2, 2019 at 6:11 pm #104876Paul Goldschmidt straight up for Luke Voit. Would you do it?
September 2, 2019 at 6:13 pm #104877Nonsense!

Welcome to the club. I only wish him and Danny Mac would get a room when he comes to town.
September 2, 2019 at 6:39 pm #104882Mud, since July 1, Goldschmidt has hit at a rate that would be the following for 162 games:
.271/.323/.543/.865 with 46 HRs and 129 RBIs
He has been below his normal walk rate over this time and his BAbip is well below his career average. That would normally mean he should hit better going forward. Just imagine if he starts hitting better than the numbers above.
September 2, 2019 at 8:00 pm #104883Nonsense!
Don’t blame me for that comment. Goldy’s 2019 pedestrian bat shoulders the inspiration for that trade proposal.
September 2, 2019 at 8:12 pm #104884forsch31 – That month of July skewed his overall production. He’s not playing like the player we traded for. He’s not playing like a $130M player.
September 2, 2019 at 8:17 pm #104885Goldschmidt for Voit is nonsense.
September 2, 2019 at 8:23 pm #104886I think he’s been a minor disappointment. It could be a lot worse. Simply put, Goldy has failed to deliver in key situations at a much higher rate than I figured for a player of his stature. Hopefully he’ll come through for us this October…..though it’s difficult to envision him pulling off any Jack Clark like heroics.
September 2, 2019 at 8:36 pm #104887Milwaukee loses to Houston 3-2 in 10 innings. They are fading. I hope they put forth a great deal of effort this week as they have the Cubs for four games in Miller Park.

September 3, 2019 at 5:52 am #104900Congrats to our team on the Win! Got some early runs and the pen comes through again! Almost got some late runs but those other guys are trying to win too. Couple guys got some goose eggs. I’d be gettin’ mad about that! Go Cardinals!
