While we weren't paying full attention, perhaps, here on Labor Day, Kolten Wong's OPS is now the second-highest on the #STLCards at .810 (Ozuna .842). It was just .687 as recently as Independence Day, with two hot months since. pic.twitter.com/OkyAmnRrRA

September 2, 2019 at 1:51 pm #104831Let’s hope Wong is blossoming in to the kind of a player we envisioned as he was breezing his way thru the system. These California stiffs ran roughshod over us when we were in the Bay earlier this year. Our boys should exact revenged in this series. And finally, we ALL would be terribly remiss in not wishing our resident master chef a very happy belated birthday…..HEUREUX ANNIVERSAIRE, CARDINALINFRANCE!!

stlcard25ParticipantWaino looking solid today…he’s been hitting his spots better than he did last time out. I’d like to see the offense get to this pitcher for a few more runs this inning. Maybe a Goldy or Dejong bomb.
September 2, 2019 at 2:08 pm #104833Goldy awakening from his second extended St. Louis slumber? Crushes a one out double off the left field wall. No more 2019 slumbers, Goldy!
September 2, 2019 at 2:11 pm #104834
stlcard25ParticipantWell, Goldy very nearly went yard and Dejong picked up the RBI. 3-0 Cards.
September 2, 2019 at 2:12 pm #104835DeJong DePosits a grounder up the middle and out into center for a base hit and a 3-0 Cardinal lead ad (]Goldy comes a galloping on in.
September 2, 2019 at 2:14 pm #104836Our hitters appear to have a pretty good “beede” on this crafty SF right hander.
September 2, 2019 at 2:18 pm #104837Thank you kindly Pugs.
I’m liking this 3-0 lead with a sharp looking Waino.
September 2, 2019 at 2:21 pm #104838Goldschmidt and DeJong come alive.
Since the All-Star break, Wong is 51 of 130 for 392. Has 19 RBIs in that stretch.
September 2, 2019 at 2:45 pm #104839Did you say you were indulging in a sharp looking wine today, CardinalinFrance? Maybe I’ll crack open some sharp looking Wild Turkey……Goldy now robs Yaz’ grandson of a base hit with some very nifty glove work over at 1st…..still 3-0 Good Guys as we venture into the bottom of the 5th inning on a beautiful Monday afternoon here in The Lou.
September 2, 2019 at 2:51 pm #104840
stlcard25ParticipantHere comes the Boche ball, with 84 pitching changes til the end of the game.
September 2, 2019 at 2:52 pm #104841Andrew Jose Suarez will take a seat as the hungry Dominican, Jandel Francisco Gustave, will enter this affair. Kind of ironic that a San Francisco player would have the middle name “Francisco”…..it would be akin to a St. Louis player having the middle name “Louis”….Gustave gets his out to send this game to the 6th.
September 2, 2019 at 2:57 pm #104842Wow! Fowler didn’t want to show the world that he caught that ball….I would have left Bader on the turf and have been waving that ball all over the place with a smile half the size of Texas on my face.
September 2, 2019 at 2:57 pm #104843A good 7-pitch 6th inning for Wainwright. He’s at 87 pitches, which probably means he gets to start the 7th.
September 2, 2019 at 3:01 pm #104844Mariners all over the cubbies this afternoon in Wrigley. as they carry a 1-0 advantage into the 5th.
September 2, 2019 at 3:05 pm #104845Hey, just realized…..when was the last time the cubbies scored a run at home? Been a while…..hope that streak keeps on a streaking. Speaking of “streaking”, our younger posters have no idea what a fabulous fad that was about 40 years ago. I was pretty young, but the 3 streamers I recall seeing were all 20-something year old females…..thank God.
September 2, 2019 at 3:07 pm #104846
stlcard25ParticipantWaino through 7 shutout innings on 96 pitches. That’s exactly what we needed today, and I’m a little surprised that we got it. Now let’s make it more comfortable on the pen here after the stretch!
September 2, 2019 at 3:08 pm #104847OK Waino has done a good job. Let’s give him our thanks and sit him down for the eighth.
September 2, 2019 at 3:11 pm #104848Waino should never start a game on the road ever again. And why not? Some of our long in the tooth broadcasters over the years have only worked home games…..why not Waino?? And here’s Tommy Edman just being Tommy Edman, as he opens the Cardinal 7th with a ringing double to the left center field wall.
September 2, 2019 at 3:13 pm #104849And Carpenter should never ever start a game on the road…. and at home too.
September 2, 2019 at 3:19 pm #104850Kyle Bearclaw now walks the aforementioned Carpenter with 1 out….runners at the corners for Dexter….lets stay with the action shall we?
Dexter – oh oh….my golly I think I hear the wifey coming in downstairs….2 hours early….this is nog good….take over the ship for a bit, stlcard25.
September 2, 2019 at 3:20 pm #104851
stlcard25ParticipantNot a good K from Fowler there. Gonna be up to Wong to get the run home.
September 2, 2019 at 3:23 pm #104852
stlcard25ParticipantPillar robs Wong of extra bases and the Cards of two runs. Darn.
September 2, 2019 at 3:23 pm #104853The pen’s job didn’t get any easier as the Cards failed to score Edman from 3B with one out. Wong gave it a good try, but a nice diving catch by Pillar ends the inning. On to the 8th.
September 2, 2019 at 3:24 pm #104854Pillar and Bader are the two best defensive CF’s in the NL.
Pillar made a similar play against us out in SF.
